Very disappointing news... Well, NHL24 is shelved until late October... Epic fail of the development team, and whoever's decision it was to remove the Hybrid Controls!!!

    EPIC FAIL!!!

If you keep bowing down and praising the developers, (NHL series) nothing they give us the consumer will ever be a "finished" product. Take a stand, it is your money!!!.

Although not available in this patch, we’re aiming to deliver the previously announced Hybrid Controls and Goalie Control updates in late October. We appreciate your patience surrounding these features and are working to get them into the game as soon as possible.

See? EA never disappoints in proving me right. New Dev Team. Old Dev Team. EA will always be EA... Billion dollar, worldwide company BTW.

      *sigh*

Welp... Time to make some space on my SSD until the patch actually comes out GOD knows when.

I was all pumped after selling my copy of the show on ebay to purchase the SE after work today from gamestop but decided after seeing this last nite to put that on hold and went with downloading Bg 3 on ps5 instead. simply due to hybrid not being in yet..the other things sound good for the most part so hopefully they get it in earlier than they say they will.

Now would be a good time for you hybrid guys to try and get used to the new total control option. You can still use buttons to hit, you just got to get used to the stick to shoot and trigger to pass.

What I find inexplicable (and frankly inexcusable) is that for a game which generates such a sizeable business and rely on hundred of thousands (if not millions) of users the EA team only found out in August what a big mistake they were doing by removing hybrid controls. Such a critical business decision (this is not just a technical decision) should have pondered and investigated way before, instead of going all in on a complete controls revolution by removing what consumers have used for years. At least they could have put Total Control as an additional option. Imagine doing something like this on bigger titles such as FC or Madden. It would be mayhem.
Unbelievable EA is so disconnected from their user base and act like an amateur company. Now the game is out; everyday that goes by without the hybrid control patch will only generate more frustration especially for those, like me, who are day one buyers and put faith in EA that the patch would have been available from the get go. Very disappointing and inexplicable from a business perspective

Well, first time in more than a decade (closer to two) I won't be getting NHL on release day. Extremely disappointing. There is NEVER an excuse to remove ways to play. I know lots of people like the new control scheme and that's cool if it works for you, but I've been playing the NHL series since '91 in what would be very closely related to the Hybrid controls and I'm not interested in relearning how to play. I play single player offline so taking options away for those modes makes no sense. I don't have much confidence in them adding it in before the Christmas rush either. I've seen this before, with Fight Night Round 4. They did the exact same thing and faced the exact same response. It took almost 6 months to get the buttons added back there so I hope EA forgives my skepticism.

Never realized how many people were still on hybrid controls.. Is this why over the past few years online I've gone up against guys that seemingly didn't know how to deke and would just run into me the whole time...? I've never understood why they would never move their stick and just let me get an easy poke/check on them but maybe it's all starting to add up now

It’s mostly offline players. I think the reason is that for some people, they just feel it’s a lot to figure out regarding all the dekes and other options you have. I switched way back when they first showcased it in 07 and have never looked back. I just feel like it allows for full control of where you want to handle the puck and on defense where you want to poke check or block. But I can understand why it may be difficult for some to pickup, especially if they play offline.

Lol…I have yet to figure out how to baserun properly in MLB the Show so I only use autobaserunning.

I would imagine age plays it’s part. Those of us that grew up playing on the Mega Drive and early PlayStations were used to playing on the buttons (some of us nearly 20 years). It’s hard to change. I’m lost when I try the skill stick and will have to wait for Hybrid.

Exactly!! I mean I started on Sega Genesis, then all the iterations of Playstation... It's a comfort and convenience... As some said, yes, mainly offline players, but I don't need to do a triple sowchow followed by a quadruple toe loop down the ice to move the puck in my Franchise. However, if I played online, yes, I have a distinct disadvantage but I was able to hide this disadvantage by only using the Hybrid for years, and that without deke after deke... Don't get me wrong, some of these online players care about rank and being on the top of the leader board, good for them that they mastered every move that even line 4 enforcers can use. I do not and if I play online, usually send a friendly match to friends of mine that I know play it straight, an honest game of hockey without trying to score a 10.0 from the Russian and Swedish judges...
