This is really great! But we'll still be able to edit rosters and equipment right?

I think it's safe to assume that equipment editing will be in.

Absolutely no idea if we'll be able to edit rosters though, or share them for that matter.

EDIT: I'm trying to log in to read the rest of the newsletter, so I don't know if it mentions this yet, but Matt said on Twitter that the deadline to opt-in and be included is April 30th. If they opt-in after that, no guarantee they make it in, but the devs will do their best.

He also just confirmed that real coaches will NOT be in the first game, but that doesn't mean they'll never be in.

Re: EA Sports sending out player NIL contracts today

According to the Athletic article, players that don't opt-in will be replaced by generic players similar to the Barry Bonds/Jon Dowd situtation.

The service academy players *ARE* expected to be in the game, they're working on a legal way since they can't be paid NIL money.

Players will *NOT* have face scans, due to the insane amount of players they want in. So they'll be digital recreations based on photos.

"Sources familiar with the proposed contract tell Extra Points that the base contract will pay athletes $600 for usage of their digital name, image and likeness in the video game, along with a copy of EA Sports College Football 25 on a system of their choosing. This contract offer will be sent to all 85 scholarship football players on all 134 FBS programs for next season."

It's going to be a longgggggggggggggggg 5 months!! I've fired Madden back up just to watch and envision what the college game will look like. Madden is a beautiful game when watched at broadcast angle. With this game being current gen only and possible PC, I expect this to be one of the best looking games of this consoles generation regardless of genre. I'm a sucker for visuals lol!!

                      $600...

.. EA reportedly pays NFL players $28,000 for Madden, per Mike Florios piece this AM.

I look forward to the next O'Bannon suit.

What would be the argument? They have the right to opt out if they don't like the terms; and it they do opt out, EA is saying that there won't be any way for us to add them to the game.

This time around, if EA uses anything but the players actual name and likeness, I bet teh players will sue. As they should.

Roster updates in a college football video game. Only in my dreams did I think that would become a reality.

I know a lot of folks don't really care about the real players being in the game for dynasty reasons, but if you grew up playing with QB #1 on the OG Playstation without being able to edit names, to having to mail in your memory card to a random guy on the internet during the PS2 days, to the NCAA 10(?) game where the rosters were randomly generated at launch because someone "forgot" to upload the "real" file and you had to download the official roster from EA's account on the share server, to now potentially having 11,000 actual players in the game with opportunities to do things they've never been able to do with the players before, that's pretty freaking cool.

Which is why I'm going to make sure I get a physical copy of this game. I know eyes will be watching. And it would be that way whether they were getting paid $600 or $30k.
