I’ve never been so disappointed with SDS than I am now with what little I know about this game. Based on what I do know is that come March 15 I’ll likely be getting a refund on my the Show ‘24 pre-order.

As others said previously, I have the same opinion that it would have made more sense to do this when Jeter had a cover, like last year.

Maybe I'll be in the vast minority here, but IMO I think for what this mode is, SDS did a great job!

I understand that this Storylines mode featuring Jeter is NOT what some (or many) people wanted/expected to see. It's your prerogative to feel that way if it doesn't move the needle for you and that's fine.

But I for one am excited to dive into this. The narration from Jeter himself, the actual game footage of these events, the other supporting Yankee legends (love seeing O'Neill and Williams especially), and the KINGDOME (yes!) all adds to this mode. They really flushed this out as opposed to just throwing in a list of moments with no thought.

        My $.02

……..Storylines is truly evolving into a must-play mode within MLB The Show and this amount of detail is appreciated.

          Bottom Line
Storylines: Derek Jeter is everything we could possibly want it to be. Mirroring the Negro Leagues design with a documentary-style narrative, baseball fans get a chance to relive one of modern baseball’s most iconic legends…….

I mean ZERO offense, but did you watch what I watched? A “must play”. It is your opinion, but not an inkling of concern, dismay?

          Peace.

                  You did not hear?

SDS is renaming the game to MLB storylines 25 next year.

So far Andy Pettitte being in the game is what I am most excited for.

I was thinking about this. I wonder if the Jeter Storylines just wasn't completed in time before 23 went gold and for some reason they didn't want to release it as they would just another program. They wanted to feature it from the get go as they're doing now.

Or they really only developed this Storylines idea while Jeter was visiting SDS and they had to ramp up the whole subway car idea and the whole narration with Jeter while obtaining game footage of these specific moments.

Good point. If that is true and they had this idea floating around....I don't want or mean to take this thread in another direction....but maybe it would have been a good idea to do a Griffey, Jr. story line.

Don't get me wrong--I'm a Jeter fan and I'm looking forward to this, but taking a page out of 2K's playbook with 2K23 featuring Jordan and 2K24 featuring Kobe, The Show 24 could have been a prime time to showcase The Kid. Plus, with the Negro League story line and Griffey deciding to wear Robinson's 42 on April 15....just makes a lot of sense to me.

But back on track--I'm looking forward to this game mode.

I'd like to say I'm disappointed in what SDS has presented so far, but I am not at all surprised this is all there is that's "New" to the game this year.....so far....maybe. It's hard to be disappointed when they (barely) met expectations....as low as those expectations were.

I do feel bad for the specific devs who were showcased in today's Feature Premiere. You can tell it was a genuine passion project for them (and, as a public transit geek, I love all the NY Subway motifs), and they've just been getting absolutely shredded.

But, given how much certain areas of this game have stagnated in recent years (namely visuals and Franchise), I don't blame people for approaching this Storylines-heavy marketing approach with skepticism/frustration. I appreciate Storylines for highlighting and celebrating the sport's history, but making them such an early point-of-emphasis is puzzling, to say the least.

Well I didn’t watch the entire thing but I did skim over it. Actually it is a pretty cool idea. Would have preferred a star from the 60’s or 70’s though.

Feels like devoting an hour to this was over kill.

Still buying, still holding out hope for a substantial add for franchise.

                              What can I say, I’m a dreamer.
