Custom Conference - Playoff Tie in
As the playoff expands to 12 teams this year, the power 4 conference champions plus the highest rated group of 5 champion will get into the playoff. If I put everyone back in the PAC 12, and turn the American into the old Big East, will we be able to edit the playoff to include those champions as well.

According to Mills on Twitch, he mentioned in one of his last streams that if you place the teams back in the Pac-12 that the playoff rules will change to the 6+6 format. As the playoff expands to 12 teams this year, the power 4 conference champions plus the highest rated group of 5 champion will get into the playoff. Unless this is different than the one I heard, he didn’t say that. He made a vague statement about the game knowing and rules changing. Which could be interpreted as meaning it’ll make the PAC champ eligible but still takes the top 5.Teams: Minnesota Vikings, Cincinnati Reds, Marshall Thundering Herd, Virginia Tech Hokies (2010 alum)Comment

I plan on rebuilding the PAC right away and have a question to add here. The PAC 12 only has 2 bowl tie ins right now. When I put all of those teams back, is the 4th place team in the league going to not get a bowl game?As the playoff expands to 12 teams this year, the power 4 conference champions plus the highest rated group of 5 champion will get into the playoff. Re: Custom Conference - Playoff Tie in
This is correct. Before the PAC imploded it was going to be the 6 highest ranked conference champions, but they quickly changed it once that happened. If we can’t change it back to 6+6 then G5 dynasties are going to have to be done without rebuilding the PAC which is unfortunate.Originally posted by Wdunn60958I thought it is the 5 highest rated conference champions and then the at large bids go to the 7 highest rated non conference-champion teams. Most circumstances will have the Power 4 as the top 4 rated conference champions, which leaves the last bid to a G5 champion but I dont think thats the rule.Teams: Minnesota Vikings, Cincinnati Reds, Marshall Thundering Herd, Virginia Tech Hokies (2010 alum)Comment

Re: Custom Conference - Playoff Tie in
As a side note/clarification, based on what we've heard and unless they change it, we can put all the original Big East teams in the AAC, but we can't turn the AAC into the Big East IE change its name.Comment

Re: Custom Conference - Playoff Tie in
A G5 team can still get in it just wouldn’t be automatic. But a stronger G5 undefeated conf champ that maybe beat a P5 non conf foe should still qualify. Maybe, or maybe not. But that’s how it’s always been for smaller school fans. This is correct. Re: Custom Conference - Playoff Tie in
If the ranking system in the game is anything like how it works in real life, it would be extremely rare for a G5 to be ranked ahead of a P5 conference champion, especially since the conferences have mostly moved to top two instead of divisions which makes a weak division winner upsetting someone not a possibility.
Yes, I know, Cincinnati. But Cincy was a former P6 team and was headed to a P5 conference at the time, and needed a perfect storm of results in other games to make the playoff that it did.
Having the G5 slot is a really fun thing if you’re doing a G5 school. It gives you something to strive for that is actually obtainable. Taking it out and having to crack the top 12 is going to be a lot harder if you have difficulty tuned to where you’re getting realistic results.Teams: Minnesota Vikings, Cincinnati Reds, Marshall Thundering Herd, Virginia Tech Hokies (2010 alum)Comment

Agreed but not unrealistic. For the record I’m a Marshall fan. That will be my first dynasty team. But it would take a 12-0 season with a couple big wins in non conf whether that spot auto qualifies or not.If the ranking system in the game is anything like how it works in real life, it would be extremely rare for a G5 to be ranked ahead of a P5 conference champion, especially since the conferences have mostly moved to top two instead of divisions which makes a weak division winner upsetting someone not a possibility.

Yeah, that's been my interpretation, and not that a G5 champion gets an auto bid. So, I'm thinking if we revert the Pac 12 back to who they were before, then more likely than not, they would get that 5th auto bid.Originally posted by Wdunn60958I thought it is the 5 highest rated conference champions and then the at large bids go to the 7 highest rated non conference-champion teams. Very good question. I’d imagine they’d be treated as independents and have to wait for at-large bids.There... are... four... lights!Comment
