Only 1 Complaint But It is A Big One

First off, let me say that I have really enjoyed NCAA 14 for 10 years now.

The speed of the game was fairly accurate.

There are many positive things to say about this one. Visually is beautiful, all of the features are wonderful.

This game is way too fast. To me it feels like every player is maxed out at 99 on all ratings.

Back on NCAA 14 when you would watch a replay, you had the option to fast-forward it. That’s what this game feels like.

I get it EA is making this game for younger people and wanted it to be like an arcade style game. It seems like they want people flying all over the field and scoring a lot of points.

So far, I’ve only played two games, but I am extremely disappointed.

Wide receivers cannot get separation, again everybody is flying all over the field and it looks silly to me .

    Am I crazy here?

Ok I'm 44 and my complaint with NCAA gameplay wise from way back in 97 was that it played too slow especially compared to Gamebreaker back then.

I haven't played the new one yet, but I have welcomed the sped up game play. Football plays are quick.

Is there a slider that will help?

As you said, you have only played two games, and you are seemingly unhappy enough to write out your complaints.

The best answer I can give you is to play the game some more. You could also try different slider settings. There is also a setting that slows down play time while passing. Keep in mind that this setting is automatically disabled during online play.

I would not discredit your opinion. My experience has been totally different than yours. I have played over 4 hours and i always go random.i notice ratings matter. Each team doesnt play the same. The speed to me is what college in real life is. It’s fast. They are young no injuries per say. Idk if you play ncaa 14 because it been a decade but ncaa 14 was fast too. I think we been so compliant with madden we not used to how football games are supposed to be. The jukes the spins the speed.

I’m not aware of a setting that slows down play time while passing!!!

            How do you do that?

So nobody thinks that every player is running at hyper speed?

Gameplay plays a tad too fast for my liking, too. Acceleration seems instant rather than gradual. It feels like I'm playing Call of Duty. I miss the option to adjust game speed like Madden had a few years ago.

Player speed feels great to me. The players still feel heavy and have momentum, but they feel and move like high level athletes. And, the speed helps increase the difficulty of the game which is a nice bonus.

Ya the player speed feels good to me, the pace is super fast but that’s because there’s so many teams running hurry up offense

Exactly. Acceleration, speed, agility, elusiveness on all players is 99.

I was trying to see how they came up with the speed ratings.

Back about 12 years ago, there was a guy on here that made a chart based on 40 yard dash times.

That’s what I used to adjust all the players and make it more realistic.

I looked at the roster for Florida State and noticed quite a few players with speed in the 90s.

So I looked at their 40 time. The times were 4.46-4.52

                      That is not elite speed.

Overall, if you look at all of the rosters, there are a few players that have 99 speed. That is simply not possible. That would make them the fastest people in the world.

That goes back to my thinking that the game plays way too fast.

Since I’ve already purchased it, I will play it from time to time. However, I intend on maintaining the rosters on 14 and using that primarily.

I disagree. I think that would make them the fastest people in college football. I think the ratings should be relative to the game, not the world (which clearly is how they’re designed). Both Madden and CFB should have 99 speed guys (and if they hypothetically made a high school football game they should have 99 speed guys too). But in real life they’re built differently as an NFL 99 guy would be faster than a CFB 99 guy who’d be faster than a HS 99 guy.

I'm older and the old stick skills and hand-eye has aged with me. Just looking for a good gameplay balance between challenging and fun before getting into a dynasty.

Madden removed the game speed setting after Madden 19, I believe.

I was always a guy who played on slow. Players had a more realistic acceleration rate and change of direction on that setting, in my opinion.

I wish they would bring that setting back.

On the flipside, I've been watching some college football games on YouTube from various FBS schools. The pace on CFB 25 does closely mimick the real-life speed of college football. I just have an issue with how fast players accelerate and change direction in game. For whatever reason, it's not as jarring in practice mode.

I'm not playing on AA or Heisman yet...I've started out on the Freshman and Varsity levels.

I think there is just a learning curve we have to get used to. I'm 42 and while I had a copy of Madden 22 and played it fairly recently, it did nothing to prepare me for this game. It's totally different and I'm not mad about that. Its the exact opposite.

Passing is different so I changed it back to the classic setting for the time being as I get adjusted to the new game, but the speed hasn't been an issue. I need to be able to adapt to it.

The only gripe I have is that if I go up 14-0 or 21-0 early, I feel like the CPU overcompensates rather quickly to get back into the game. That's happened on multiple games and I've lost 3-4 games where I have been up by multiple TD's early on...but I know that the more games I play, the less that will happen.

IDK...I can live with it. I enjoy this time now doing random play now games with random teams exploring different playbooks and not knowing if I will win or lose the game, but knowing it will be a good game.

Take Georgia, for example. Obviously a well-built team with superior athletes.

Obviously, there’s gonna be a few players in the 90s because of who they are.

On this game if I used Georgia and played UAB. Players at UAB would be flying all over the field with Georgia players.

That simply isn’t fair at all. It’s kind of like today’s society where everybody gets a participation trophy.

The people that put in the work should be rewarded with good ratings. Obviously genetics play a factor.

Basically, what I’m trying to say is that a 5 star athlete should not be on the same level as a one star athlete.

If you have a person who is running a 4.39 40 yard dash. Then also bench pressing 300 pounds and has a 42 inch vertical. This person will be at a top-tier university. He wouldn’t be playing for UNT for example

Maybe I’m reading too much into it
