    Freshman CPU vs CPU Sliders

After observing multiple games with each difficulty, I decided that CPU vs CPU games play the best on Freshman. I've been pleasantly surprised to see that nothing is taken off the table due to playing/observing at the lowest difficulty setting.

While this is the best football game EA has produced, I'd say the biggest issue is the inflated ratings across the board. Since we can't edit ratings, I decided to drop all slider settings equally to see how it would play out. Below, I'll post details of the games I've observed.

*Credit to CoachGunns and the members that contributed to his thread. I'm using some of their same settings

    Quarter Length: 15 minutes
    Accelerated Clock: On
Minimum Play Clock Time: 15 seconds

    Passing type: user preference

    Injuries: 50
    Fatigue: 100
    Player Speed Parity Scale: 50

    QB Accuracy: 30
    Pass Blocking: 30
    WR Catch: 30

    Run Blocking: 30
    Ball Security: 30

    Defense Reaction: 30
    Interceptions: 30
    Pass Coverage: 30

    Tackling: 30

Special Teams: All default / 50

I did change FG power to 40 over the last two games. More testing is needed but for whatever reason, maybe it's just me, I feel changing ST sliders somehow impacts gameplay.

Penalties are user preference. I know it may seem strange, but for testing I moved all of my penalty sliders to 40 in order to reflect the drop in other sliders across the board.

I do recommend turning intentional grounding and roughing the kicker off. I've seen back to back roughing the kicker penalties on the same drive in multiple games.

    Auto Subs (credit to CoachGunns)

    QB out: 60
    QB in: 80
    RB out: 88
    RB in: 96
    WR out: 84
    WR in: 89
    TE/FB out: 84
    TE/FB in: 89
    OL out: 60
    OL in: 80

    DE out: 88
    DE in: 96
    DT out: 88
    DT in: 96
    LB out: 84
    LB in: 89
    CB out: 60
    CB in: 80
    S out: 60
    S in: 80

Version Two: Designed and tested for Play Now

    Difficulty: Freshman
    Quarter Length: 13 minutes
    Accelerated Clock: On
Minimum Play Clock Time: 16 seconds

Passing type: Placement w/ Large lead
    All helper items turned off.

    Injuries: 45
    Fatigue: 85
    Player Speed Parity Scale: 70

*The player speed parity is crucial for this set. I was seeing far too many RAC yards while testing version 1. Moving this slider to 70 has helped tremendously.

Offensive settings: 30 (same as v1)
Defensive settings: 30 (same as v1)
Special teams: 45 for FG power and KO power. The rest are default.

    Auto Subs: default 60/80

Penalties: Default with roughing the kicker and intentional grounding turned off.

I now make changes manually if a RB is getting too many carries. I'll also mass sub late in the game when appropriate.

Averages of the 11 games posted earlier vs 2023 CFB stats

Average plays per game: 72.7 (2023 average: 68)
                          Rushes: 33.8 (36)
                          Rushing Yards: 134.2 (157)
                          Yards per Rush: 3.97 (4.2)
                          Passing attempts: 38.9 (32)
                          Completions: 24.8 (18)
                          Passing Yards: 301.8 (230)
                          Yards per attempt: 7.75 (7.3)
                          Completion percentage: 63% (61%)
                          Yards per play: 5.9 (5.5)

Given this info minor adjustments may be needed to the acc clock to remove about 7-9 plays per game.

Passing yardage is high, but the CPU throws at the end of halves even when they should be burning clock. This is one area that can't be corrected. Overall, yards per attempt are very close to CFB averages.

This is really interesting, thanks for posting. I might give these settings a try tonight. Though the passing yardage does concern me.

Very very interesting. All the games look good. I have been thinking that sliders just don't work while trying to fix All American. I maxed out and dropped them to zero and really no diff, game is very arcade like , but your results look real good I will try this.
