    Playing true freshman

I have a few true freshman that are just a little below the starter in terms of ratings. Like 2 or 3 points. Is there a benefit of starting a true fish in these scenarios?

not a benefit but i have noticed freshman OL definitely get called for a lot mor holding and block in the back penalties. I have a fresh RG that has games where he gets called so much for holding i have to sub him out.

It’s his low awareness rating most likely.

I could be wrong but I'm guessing that more snaps will improve their development. If I have a freshman that's a point or two worse than a senior I'll usually go with the freshman for that reason. Also might reduce chances of transferring.

From what I've seen "Playing Time" excuse for transferring is more who else is on the depth chart and how many players at his position and how many targets on recruiting board you have.

I've seen players that I made a starter still have low "Playing Time" grade even if I have them #1 on the depth chart.
          NHL: Anaheim Ducks
          NFL: Carolina Panthers
          MLB: Atlanta Braves
          NBA: Charlotte Hornets
          NCAA: North Carolina Tar Heels

That would explain what I just noticed. My staying QB (who’s played basically every down) is orange danger of transferring due to playing time. But my #2 QB is 2 points OVR better than my starter and I have 5 QBs and am recruiting another (spread option guy here trying to get some speed at QB and my starter is the only guy on team now with passable speed of 80).

            NHL: Detroit Redwings
