RB just disappearing from the game?
Does anyone else experience games where a skilled position player will just stop coming on the field? It has happened a few times with my RBs. I start Judkins and Henderson is my powerback and 3rd down back. Last night midway through the 2nd quarter Henderson had 4 carries and then I never saw him again. I didn't realize it until Judkins got hurt in the 3rd quarter and was going to be out until the 4th. My 3rd string RB came in and then when he got tired the 4th string came in. Henderson wasn't hurt. When I tried to choose a play based on player, it didn't show any of the RBs as an option. I went to my depth chart and tried to swap Henderson from 2 to 1 on the RB depth chart but it just said "you can't start a player twice".Tags: None -
Re: RB just disappearing from the game?
Couple of thoughts:
- If you are playing with Wear and Tear enabled, check the player's health on his player card. I believe this is mapped to the right stick while viewing the player in the depth chart. I don't think a player can be pulled from the game due to Wear and Tear, but I admittedly not sure. Maybe this is what happened?
- If you have increased Fatigue and Auto Subs sliders, you probably need to reduce one of the two. Historically there are issues in EA Sports football games with players getting too tired on higher fatigue settings and never recovering their stamina back above an elevated Sub In slider value, which means they disappear from the game forever.

It’s the latter. I’ve had the same issue a couple times. It’s the good ol’ disappearing RB Madden problem. Which, sadly, means this is definitely just the Madden code and not ‘ground up’ like some touted.Comment

It happens same as on madden. Gotta love the frostbite engine.Comment

Re: RB just disappearing from the game?
Wrong. I have fatigue on 100. And I see subs all game long and in the 4th quarter. It's likely wear and tear. I've seen LB's, CB's and others sit a possession or two to recoup.Comment

Yeah it’s happened to me, running back coming out of the half with no wear and tear didn’t play the entire 3rd quarter so I ended up restarting.Comment

Re: RB just disappearing from the game?
No, it’s not. Has more to do with auto subs than fatigue, far as I can tell. But I’ve had guys who have zero wear and tear or any injuries just disappear for the entire game in the second quarter because I had back to back scores of 70+ yards with them. This problem has been in Madden for years.Comment

Re: RB just disappearing from the game?
It's not the auto subs. The guy literally NEVER returned. Just vanished from the game. After Judkins went out the 3rd and 4th string shared the rest of the carries the last two quarters. Henderson never saw the field again. Henderson also had no wear and tear at all.No, it’s not. Has more to do with auto subs than fatigue, far as I can tell. No you don’t understand. It is due to the auto subs, or the fatigue level, or both. Did you raise your auto sub threshold? Or your fatigue slider? Or both? What happens is the back hits a certain percentage of lost energy, and as the game goes on they can only recover so much of that. So they hit a point where they cannot regain enough energy to ‘qualify’ for being subbed back in, due to the auto sub being too high (typically, 90+). So the game straight up will not allow them to re-enter the game. If your fatigue slider is raised, they will hit the ‘point of no return’ faster.
I (thinking this problem wouldn’t be present in this ‘new code’ game) raised my auto subs to have my RB’s return at 100, and sub out at 90, to get a good rotation of backs. I also upped fatigue to 53, which is typically the sweet spot in Madden. I’ve now had 3 running backs disappear, and it happens exactly the same way as it does in Madden. Particularly if you have long plays. For example, I used Oklahoma State and I lost Ollie Gordon in the 2nd quarter for the rest of the game. He had 10 carries and 8 catches. But. I had a drive where he scored a 73 yard rushing TD, followed immediately by the AI throwing a very long interception, and me throwing a 70 yard screen pass where Ollie scored again. He was then out for the rest of the game. It wasn’t wear and tear, and it wasn’t an injury. (He was untouched on both plays.) It’s because he expended too much energy, he couldn’t reach 100 again. Did Henderson have any long runs/catches? Did he have a bunch of carries?
Should he be able to return after sitting on the bench for an entire half a quarter, and all of halftime? Obviously, yes. But the game won’t let it happen. So the auto subs become the problem, but the fatigue slider increases how quickly it can happen. Does this make any logical sense? No. But we in the Madden community have definitively traced this glitch to the auto subs, and fatigue slider.Last edited by GoDucks1224; 07-31-2024, 10:17 PM.Comment

I had this happen to me and the RB was my starting FB. I would suspect that might be the case here.Comment

Re: RB just disappearing from the game?
I was using Virgina Tech in Play Now and the starting running back just carried a few times in the 1st quarter and then disappeared for the rest of the game. Not fatigue. Not wear and tear. Not injured. Just gone. I tried messing around with the depth chart, but nothing worked. I'd be super pissed if it happend to me in a meaningful Dynasty game.#LFC

Re: RB just disappearing from the game?
I think there is more to this than just a general fatigue/auto subs issue. I have completed 5 seasons of dynasty now with 4 on 86 fatigue and 1 on 90 fatigue and have yet have a single player disappear from a game like this.
I'm sure fatigue is playing a role in it, but it seems it has an additional trigger otherwise I should have had the issue by now with my higher fatigue settings.Last edited by canes21; 08-01-2024, 10:41 AM.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”
