Depth Chart Keeps Switching Player Positions in Dynasty

I've noticed that the depth chart is correct outside of dynasty mode, but it starts switching players around once you enter dynasty. The most common switches include LT/RT, LG/RG, LE/RE, and LOLB/ROLB. It might also impact MLB, but I can't remember.

This issue doesn't just impact user teams, but it happens to many of the computer teams too. It looks like it puts in the player with the highest OVR, even if they play the opposite position.

Does anyone know how to avoid this problem? Do you think EA even considers this a glitch or is this how the system is designed to work?

Likely by design. In the past (and I’m sure here too) the AI was bad about balancing rights and lefts so they could have 1 left with 60 OVR and 5 rights rated 75-85. In that scenario clearly the 85 and 84 rights should start at left and right, but I’m pretty sure in ‘14 it would start the 60 left and 85 right.

This happens before the first game. Once you set it up before that first game, you can double check it but I believe it stays put for the rest of the season. Obviously only for user teams depth charts.

Worth noting that your depth chart also auto-reorders whenever you change redshirts.

I didn't notice my depth chart reordering until last night. Last night I played game 5 of my Dynasty. Earlier yesterday I had assigned Redshirts. Depth chart became wonky after that. Mostly to the positions listed on the OP, however, my RB and QB were also switched.

Is this something that is going to continue to happen, or is it a one time thing after assigning Redshirts?

I've been micromanaging my redshirts because I have a wide receiver room full of underclassmen who haven't redshirted and want to make sure all of them play in no more than four games.

Every single time I change who is redshirting, my depth chart auto reorders.

I've also observed that the depth chart doesn't really care about the player's listed position and instead just pulls in the best available player by OVR at each position. For example, my best OL is listed at RG, but auto-reorder slots him at LG.

This behavior is annoying, I remember this bug existing in Madden online franchise years ago, I assume EA Sports fixes it eventually because it's no longer a problem in Madden, but for now I'm just assuming before every game that my depth chart is wrong and I'm reflexively ordering my depth chart on my own before I start any dynasty game.

It'll only change after you manually red shirt a player. So if you don't it will stay the same.
