As far as I’m aware, you can only change player positions during the offseason, so I wouldn’t be able to change the defensive ends to outside linebackers year one right? And I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t appear on the depth chart at outside linebacker?

Is It Possible to Change Defensive Scheme Year One?
I’d like to start a new dynasty and change defensive scheme from a 4-2-5 to 3-4 Multiple in the first season. Can I actually do this?

You can do it, but your team will not be optimized for it and you'll probably have to play guys "out of position" until year 2 as far as on the depth charts. Without formation subs at the moment its even harder to get guys in the right spots but it's not impossibleI’d like to start a new dynasty and change defensive scheme from a 4-2-5 to 3-4 Multiple in the first season. Addressing a specific point — while there are many depth chart restrictions, College Football 25 does allow the placement of LEs and REs at LOLB and ROLB on the depth chart. I've done it myself. But yes, they'd technically be playing out of position for the first season.Comment

Yeah this is what I meant. IRL these are the same positions in modern defenses(most of the time) but not in EA. So your guys will get overall hits year 1 but since most of the game is played in sub packages now anyway it really doesn't matter too much most of the game.NFL:New England Patriots

I appreciate these responses!
Just to confirm - OVR doesn't really matter right? I frequently put players in positions where they have a lower OVR because I think their individual attributes are more suitable for the position than another player whose OVR is higher.
It doesn't really matter if I put a LE at LOLB and he has a lower OVR right? As long as I'm using him as an edge rather than in an off the ball role?Comment

Re: Is It Possible to Change Defensive Scheme Year One?
Correct. Part of the reason overall numbers fluctuate is due to the awareness drop for being OOP and the fact that the position ratings differences aren't nuanced so OLBs are graded the same whether it's a standup 4-3 OLB or 3-4 edge rusher despite these not being remotely the same positions so the low zone coverage numbers of the DE will drag his OVR down heavy despite it not mattering as much.I appreciate these responses!
