Pursuit angles are still terrible
I have been playing Madden 25 almost non stop for the past week. Went back to NCAA this morning and the pursuit angles on defense are abysmal and almost not playable.
Any idea if this is something the dev's are trying to fix?Ravens * Canucks * Blue Jays * UCLATags: None -
Re: Pursuit angles are still terrible
With all do respect how bout adjusting the tackle and threshold sliders to fix your issues.
I really haven't seen any pursuit issues once you tweak those things.
Sometimes it seems like guys are afraid to adjust things on their own and wait for EA to patch the hell out of the game only to break it.NCAA FOOTBALL 14 ALUMNI LEGENDS CPU vs CPU DYNASTY THREAD

Does the tackle slider need to be turned up or down to improve pursuit angles? With all do respect how bout adjusting the tackle and threshold sliders to fix your issues.

Re: Pursuit angles are still terrible
Ive seen pursuit improve with a higher tackle slider and Player speed parity threshold
As for settings anything above 70 in tackle or Player speed parity helps pursuits.
But I typically lower user offensive sliders because then the CPU tackle slider can stay close to default and pursuit isn't an issue for me.
My biggest fear is EA will continue to patch things and eventually the gameplay won't be what we had at release.
Checkout the slider forums excellent post by Fiddy who gives you a overall avg amongst settings via the community. I'd take his set and tweak it to your liking to help the pursuit issue.NCAA FOOTBALL 14 ALUMNI LEGENDS CPU vs CPU DYNASTY THREAD

Re: Pursuit angles are still terrible
They started to address it in the previous patch.
Tuning and logic enhancements to pursuit angles.- Introduced new behavior that further differentiates players with high pursuit ratings vs lower pursuit ratings.

Re: Pursuit angles are still terrible
This is one thing that's been a complaint since launch that I never really had an issue with. Maybe it's because I spent the week before release playing NCAA 06, but the pursuit angles in this game are a big improvement from what I'm used to.Comment

Re: Pursuit angles are still terrible
I know we all like what we like, and we all have different interests and such. But I really don't see how you play Madden nonstop but think CFB is broken...Madden is a total train wreck this year.
Anyway I think the tackling is better but it also sort of is what it is at this point. I wouldn't look for many major changes if your goal is head to head.Playing

Re: Pursuit angles are still terrible
OP. You are spot on. I have played parts of over 400 games testing sliders for a month, and the pursuit angles along with zone and press man coverage need a massive fix; that sliders currently do not fix, unless the new patch fixed them at all.Comment

Re: Pursuit angles are still terrible
Beginning to think people complaining about pursuit angles haven’t watched much college football. Every single game there’s huge plays because of terrible tackling and pursuit angles. I know it makes for a ****ty online game play experience, but it makes for a more realistic representation of college football.NHL: Vegas Golden Knights

NFL: Minnesota Vikings

Re: Pursuit angles are still terrible
I agree with this. Pursuit angles are a major issue in all levels of football at times and a primary factor in long plays happening very often, and especially evident in college football. To me, I think what would help the perception of this, just the optics I guess, is to add more realistic path corrections for bad angles. In the game, when a player takes a bad pursuit angle, they often just stay on that path until they blow past the ball carrier, and only then do they course correct. It causes a very jarring visual as it's really apparent early, a lot of times, that the defender is taking a bad angle long before this point.Beginning to think people complaining about pursuit angles haven’t watched much college football. In real life, the defender taking the bad angle is going to realize it far before this point and start to course correct much earlier than you see in the game. It's still too late to make the play a lot of the time, but it makes it far less obvious to the naked eye. Assuming bad pursuit angles are an intentional design and are based on pursuit rating and whatever other combination of ratings that factor into that, then I think it would definitely help to implement a much earlier and/or more frequent "recalculation" that the defender does to alter their pursuit path.
If the player doesn't have the makeup speed and/or their pursuit rating is low enough to where the initial path was just too off or the "recalculation/s" still don't quite get them on the correct path, then they still won't be able to make the play. It would just be visually FAR more realistic in showing what they're trying to represent with the poor pursuit angles being a major factor in football (again assuming this is mostly an intentional design choice).
Maybe something like this has been considered and it's just WAY more difficult to implement technically than I can even comprehend.Comment

Seriously. Been wanting to post something similar the after the 1st complaint. Almost every game that's played, you see some SS or FS taking bad to terrible angles. Re: Pursuit angles are still terrible
This guy gets it. I'm happy with poor pursuit angle misses, but usually a poor pursuit angle means an attempted arm tackle, or a useless attempt to adjust when they realize their mistake. The problem, is a few times a game I get a guy that acts like one of the 9 year old's on my flag football team where they clearly are running to where the ball carrier was/is versus where he's going. They never make an attempt to adjust until the player is already past them.I agree with this. I feel like this play from last night is a good example that shows the bad angles happen but also a more realistic visualization of it:
(1) Player one, #10, runs to where Hunter catches it not realizing how quick he is, he tries to to chase but it's a broken arm tackle (want more of this).
(2) Player two, #29, totally misjudges how quick Hunter can get up to speed and when he realizes it practically falls over trying to adjust but doesn't even touch him (this is where in the game players either just run right past the player or sometimes almost just inexplicably stop b/c the player changes direction...not jukes but changes direction.)
(3) Player 3, #11, takes a bad angle on the chase not realizing how fast he is and finds himself chasing the Hunter the last 10 yards. Wouldn't have mattered even if he had a good angle, but it is what it is.Comment
