All-Amercian players
I had a DE that was 3rd in the Heisman Trophy race, then won the defensive player of the year, won the lineman of the year but did not make the all-American team, 1st or 2nd team. Okay, lets look at the conference All-Americans, nope not there either.

All-Amercian players
For starters, with only 11.5 sacks, your guy almost certainly didn’t lead the nation. In the 4 seasons of my dynasty the nation’s leading sacker (all CPU simmed guys, not mine) had 16.5, 18.5, 20.5, 16.0 in seasons 1,2,3,4 respectively. You thought your guy led because you couldn’t see the actual leader for the same reason your guy wasn’t on the list.
When viewing stats, it’ll only show you the top X leaders (I think it’s 300) for the stat that appears by default when switching to that tab. For the defensive tab that’s tackles. That means when you switch to defensive tab it’ll only show you the top 300 tacklers per group (in this case NCAA). Then, when you sort other stats like sacks or interceptions, it doesn’t show you the 300 top sackers, it is still showing the top 300 tacklers, but then sorts those 300 guys by sacks.
To see who’s really leading the nation in sacks you’ll need to look conference by conference, and even that might not be good enough if in a big conference. I.e. if in the SEC the leading sacker was not among the SEC’s top 300 tacklers, then he won’t show up among SEC leaders either.
For my sack leaders by season I mentioned above, only in season 1 did the guy show up among the National leaders. The other 3 years he wasn’t shown. In year 3, with the 20.5 sack due, the “nation’s leader” had 8.5 and every conference except for 2 had guys with more than 8.5 sacks……
EDIT: But to answer your main question, maybe the AA team values sacks more than other stats for DE and since there were certainly a lot of DEs with more sacks than your guy they won AA, while the Heisman, Best DE, and whatever other awards value other stats (user players get more TFLs than CPU guys using the sim engine) so your guy won those awards.Last edited by jello1717; 09-12-2024, 03:52 PM.Favorite Teams:

It's a very annoying thing that I wish EA would/could address.
And whatever the cause for a defensive end to win individual awards but get left off the All-American or all-conference teams, it also should be addressed. I had a DE win the Heisman, national POY, DPOY, best DE, and Lombardi trophy, but he made neither All-American or All-MWC team. It'd be one thing to see slightly different weighting leading to different awards/honors recognizing players in different ways, but the idea that a defensive end who won every possible individual award doesn't even make second-team All-MWC is kinda ridiculous. Clearly something doesn't work.Comment

I understand that concept of why you may not be seeing that certain player, but it sure tells me it is a flaunt system that needs correcting.Comment

Re: All-Amercian players
I’d advise not holding your breath there. This is all hearsay since I haven’t played a football game since NCAA14, but people who’ve played Madden say this bug has been in Madden for many years, so it being fixed doesn’t seem likely.Favorite Teams:

Re: All-Amercian players
It has been in Madden for the last couple of years as I have only got back into playing these games two years ago. It's not a "must have" it just adds to the realism of the game to me.
Personally if they could just fix why my QB gets sacked 10 times a game when playing coach mode, I would be a happy camper right now.Comment

Re: All-Amercian players
It’s a known issue that was supposed to be tweaked a bit in the last patch. But it’s routine that award winners don’t show up on the All-American team. Same applies with the “award watchlist” as you’ll have some people win awards that weren’t on the list until the last few weeks when playoff team winners get the 2 extra games.I had a DE that was 3rd in the Heisman Trophy race, then won the defensive player of the year, won the lineman of the year but did not make the all-American team, 1st or 2nd team.
