Substitute players in a specific formation
 

Is it possible to substitute individual players in a specific formation in Dynasty mode? Depth chart is useful to a point but can I substitute a HB in an empty set for a WR permanently?

yes. you can sub individual players on both offense and defense. on the play calling screen, you can pick a play by concept, formation, player and other things. only on the formation screen can you sub individual players in. keep in mind that you have limited time to pick a play, but from the formation screen, you press a button ( i forget which button it exactly is ) and an image of the formation pops up, with a list of all the players involved in that formation, and you can scroll with the d-pad, up or down, and choose the guy you want to remove and who you want to sub in. you can even sub in punt formations, im not sure about field goal and kick offs. on the 1st offensive and defensive plays of the game, i turn the play clock off, make all my formation subs, then turn it back on. you can formation sub in play now and im pretty sure in dynasty mode as well, although i havent actually played a dynasty yet so im not positive. but definitly in play now and i see no reason why you couldnt in dynasty. hope this helps.

if you can formation sub in dynasty, i wonder if the subs will stick? or would you have to make the same subs for every single game? that is very tedious and my patience grows thin after awhile.

Formation subs do not stick in dynasty mode. You can sub specific players into specific formations, but you have to do it each game, and you have to make the changes while calling plays (no pause, sub, start).

It's not really a good option if you have a bunch of players you want to sub into specific formations, but for inserting one guy in one formation, it's pretty quick.

If you're just playing the computer, you can back out of the formation sub screen, then click the left stick to go to the supersim screen, then back out of it. It will reset the play clock giving you more time to make your subs.

It would be nice if they add main dynasty menu formation subs in an update. Baffles me why they took it out.

This is my number 1 ask and I hope today’s update has it.

In College it is a huge thing so you can really get a lot of your recruits into the game and customize your offense and defense. Especially with wear and tear (which I love) formation subs being preset in the team menu in dynasty mode can really help you manage that more efficiently.

Yeah, formation subs is my biggest ask. The idea of having to manually sub players into specific formations every game is tedious. I was hoping it would've been in the patch. It feels like a necessary football feature. I just don't know if it's too big for a patch

I agree. Formation subs is easily my top wish for the game. But, I just learned a couple of days ago (can’t remember who on here wrote it) that you can use supersim backing out to reset the play clock so you can do all formation subs in 1 go rather than always racing the clock and doing them all in multiple attempts.
