    Base 4-3 scheme

Since the game doesn’t show the scheme positions wise, which OLB is the pass covering one and which one is the run stopper? When I’m trying to recruit I would like to go for the exact tendency of the player to fit him right in my scheme. I also notice the overalls change by a lot on players in depth chart so I’m sure the game is reading the position as a giving tendency per position. I usually recruit my DT as run stoppers DEs as speed rushers or power rusher, MLB as field general and both my OLB as pass coverage but I know for sure one is a run stopper. If someone could guide me as if there’s a guide on which players to look for for any give scheme defensively and offensively. I’m running a pro style offense btw. Thank you

None of that exists in this game. You just pick the best players for you specifically and how you play your scheme out like in the older games. The overall changes I assume are for the Sub positions like rush DE/DT, SubLB, etc and those are your nickel and dime players and have nothing to do with your base formation.

Typically, the LLB is the run stopper while the RLB is the pass coverage / pass rusher. That is because the LLB is on the strong side of the formation while the RLB is on the weak side. Keep in mind that these player types are based on a time when most offenses had a Tight End. In the current era you play against offenses like the Air Raid, Run & Shoot, Spread, etc that don't generally feature a TE. You should recruit the skill sets that fit your defense and the offenses you will generally play against.

It's also based in an era where players didn't switch sides very often either which is why no one uses left/right designations on defense anymore. Realistically you could just go BPA everywhere and be perfectly fine

          Re: Base 4-3 scheme

Here’s what I use, and I strictly recruit by tendency as this allows me to keep my personal scheme, while also making recruiting tougher as it limits which recruits I can sign.

          LE Run stopper
          RE Power rusher
          DT1 Run stopper
DT2 Run stopper (used to use power rusher)
          LOLB Run stopper
          MLB FG preferred or coverage
          ROLB coverage

          RLE Power or speed rusher
          RRE speed rusher
RDT1 speed rusher or power rusher
          RDT2 speed or power rusher
          SUBLBs coverage or FG MLBs

A nice benefit (for me) of doing it like this is that I get playing time for lots of guys as my 4 RDL are all different than the main guys and my SUBLBs usually have 1 different guy in it too. I.e. I have 2 beastly speed rushing DTs and a 91 run stopper and a 78 FR run stopper. My 91 guy was injured in game 2 and put for the season, so I’m starting my 78 FR over a couple of 92+ DTs (but those 92+s are still in my nickels and dimes).

I thought the LOLB is the run stopper and ROLB is the pass coverage player.

Not necessarily, if you check sometimes there’s a big difference in overall when you compare LOLB and ROLB same goes on offense for RG/LG and LT/RT if you switch the players from side to side. So the game must be recording some sort of scheme on their end for that to happen

That’s what I wrote in the post you quoted.
