Conference Championship Discussion

The schedule:

Friday
CUSA: Western Kentucky at Jacksonville State
American: Tulane at #24 Army
Mountain West: #20 UNLV at #10 Boise State

MW winner likely gets an auto bid to the playoff. Boise likely clinches a top-four seed and first-round CFP bye with a win.

Saturday
MAC: Ohio vs. Miami (Ohio)
Sun Belt: Marshall at Louisiana
Big 12: #16 Iowa State vs. #15 Arizona State
SEC: #5 Georgia vs. #2 Texas
B1G: #3 Penn State vs. #1 Oregon
ACC: #17 Clemson vs. #8 SMU

SEC/B1G championship games are for seeding purposes. Iowa State/Arizona State playing for a berth in the CFP. Clemson's only path is to win the ACC; SMU clinches a top-four spot with a win, can it still get in with a loss?

Georgia and Texas could potentially face each other 3 times this season. I fully expect them to win this second one.

Even though it means that they would have to play an extra game, Oregon would be better off losing their conference title game given the current CFP projections.

Big 12 game is about the only one I find interesting. Mountain West will be one I also check out, but the rest of the games feel meaningless to play outside of the ACC game. Only interesting part there is whether the committee will do the dumb thing and actually punish SMU for playing a conference title game should they lose. Other than that, pretty boring week of CFB due to the current structure of the sport. The majority of these games mean nothing now.

I know that the world has already given Travis Hunter the Heisman, and I get how impressive he has been in playing both sides. I do think that it's crazy that Jeanty doesn't get more talk though. His yards after contact alone would make him the 2nd leading rusher in football. They just showed a couple of stats that he has more rushing touchdowns and more rushing yards both on his own than like 110 other schools have total.

The SEC and Big 10 champions will get a bye so there is something to play for plus 1 of the Big 12 or ACC will get a bye.

ACC championship game meant nothing last year.

That's just too easy for Jeanty.

Playing in a non-power conference is going to do that to a player whether it is right or not.
