How useful would this be...
I think I can allow you to edit names in the editor, but as it stands, you can only select names that already exist in the game save. That way, you could save the in-game rename slots for those players with name that don't already exist. Not sure how much it would help but I don't think it would hurt and should provide a bigger rename limit since duplicate names won't need to use a slot... What do you all think?

I say its worth a shot, any increase we can get in the number of players would add even more to the longevity to the game. I am a lot more cautious now when trying new releases of the editor though, haha. We got a nice file going with the latest release that doesn't freeze...I think. Don't want to start dragging the file through different editor versions again. But we are always looking for more features in that thing :59: Finn is the man :cheers444 |
Re: How useful would this be...
Hey Finn... Just wanted to thank you for your excellent editor. Any improvements would be welcome..
One thing I've noticed with players and names... it seems that there are special players with sound cues..Rich Gannon is a perfect example. If you edit his name to 'Jones' which should prompt the announcer to call him Jones they will only call him by his number and changing his name back won't help matters- so rewriting player names does have some negative effects. I believe this is tied into players with non-editable faces. Other players that are tied to announcer cues seem to pick-up random first names but will keep the last names if it is recognized But once again changin players back won't help matters. The announcer will no longer recognize that player. The best thing to do is to rewrite players with no announcer cues so if there was some way of seeing this through your editor that would be awesome. |

Finn,
As I mentioned in my email to you, allowing editing of names would make new classic team generation possible!! I am all for it! By the way, version 032 does work perfectly for classic team editing now...it saves, repacks, and no issue getting it into the game itself. Chris |

back on topic, if you could add that so these rosters guys can make better rosters i'm all for it finn. Nick, just back up all files :) create a few backups just in case the files freeze :) but i hear ya, probably becomes so frustrating when you do all that work and it freezes on ya. cheers for all your hard work :cheers444 |
Re: How useful would this be...
This sounds like a great idea. So does that mean players like Deion Sanders will now be announced as Deion Sanders and not Darnell Sanders. So first u choose Deion Branch and edit his last name right. And evything should come out perfect right?
That would be awesome. Let the good times continue Finn. Thanks so much. |
Re: How useful would this be...
Is there anything behind the scenes that determines who is a PR or KR? I know that every time I do a fantasy draft Manning, Stroud, McNabb, and a couple others are returning punts. The only thing they seem to have in common is being draft real early, but I'm beginning to think that ther's some hidden field that keeps info on who is a PR. If there was a way to change this so the right guys returned punts, it would solve a big franchise problem.
