2005 versus 2006
 

This for those of you who own 2005 and 2006.

I bought Madden 2006 this year. It's the first one I've owned since 2003. I'm enjoying 2006 a lot. It's a fun game. With some slider adjustments I'm getting some very competitive games. The main thing that could be better is the ability of having of punt returns. I haven't been to adept at getting the hang of the cone, so for that reason I'm not using it at present.

My question is: How comparable to 2006 is 2005? Are punt returns set up better in 2005. If I purchased 2005 would I be disappointed, or do some of you find the actual game play to be better, because of the ability to return punts?

The punt returns are better in '05, but the running game is better in '06.

I don't understand how Graphics are better in previous Madden versions... It really baffles me.

Actually I think Madden '06 looks better than '05 did, much cleaner looking, at least on Xbox....don't know about the PS2 version.

The ability to return punts isnt a problem in 2006. Its cheap, but one way to do it is to pick the Punt Block Man play. Then after the cpu audibles to block your defense, audible to the original punt return play (Triangle, then R1 on PS2)

The cpu will keep their men back just enough for you to get a few more yards. Sometimes they get down that you still have to call a fair catch, but most of the times you'll get realistic punt return yards.

I wouldn't really call that cheating, that's just good coaching and good clean audible movements.
