Are you worried about NCAA Football - Next-gen?

:frown:

I know I am.

After seeing Madden, I really hope they don't go the same route with NCAA. In fact, and you started seeing this more the past 2 years, it seems as if the two games maybe "borrowed" from one another, but really were developed with their own depiction of the sport in mind.

Anyone else have this worry?

They would at least have the Madden player models as a basis for the next game. Seeing as how there isn't much time left for a July release leads me to believe that it will be a stripped down version as well. Who knows when the PS3 will be released and how that will slow the development of both versions. They would probably be better off just focusing on the 360 for 2007 and work on the PS3 version for the next year.

I'm not that worried cause I'm not sure I'll have the cash to buy a new system anyways. Certainly this system has left a lot of people wondering if the launch titles were worth buying it right away (from a sports game perspective). I think a lot of people will be fine just waiting for the second generation of games and seeing also if the PS3 will be worth it as well.

Pared....

I definitely feel the same way. I am worried about the direction that the NCAA Football series will follow on the 360. Especially, as you stated, due to the fact that NCAA and Madden have been borrowing so many things from each other the last few years.

Some people have complained about the gameplay for the last two years but I have been satisfied with the gameplay and NCAA Football continues to be my favorite game. I continued to play NCAA Football 2005 into May of this past year while most had given up on the game just months after the release. And I want to make this clear for those who may not be familiar with me... I am one of the biggest supporters of the NCAA series.

But my biggest fear is that NCAA Football 2007 will be a watered-down version of the current edition and that it will not live up to the hype on the 360. Sure, it will be nice eye candy... but the gameplay will be lacking, as well as the modes within the game. Even with a year to develop the game for the 360 there will be short-comings. EA has done it every time that a game goes to a new platform.

And finally... I'm hoping that there will be a means for roster editors like myself to continue to share our work with the public. We have become spoiled by using the Action Replay on the XBOX but what is in the works for the 360.

I'm Scared to DEATH about NCAA. 06' was without a doubt in my mind the best football game college or pro made to date. It's got a long way to fall though b4 it becomes like madden.

I'm not too worried. If I like it I'll buy it, if not then I'll just play an older version or not play at all. I know there are a lot of people who were disappointed with Madden Next-Gen but there are also a lot of people who really like it. I plan on renting a 360 with Madden for a few days when I have some days off to see what it's like. I have a feeling it's a good game with some flaws. The biggest complaints seem to be with the sim engine and features that have been taken out. I don't care too much about sim stats since I could never compete in my franchises for individual honors cause I play 5 minute quarters. Same goes for NCAA. The other complaints seem to be rooted in the fact that it's not 2K.

I'm no longer a hardcore realism guy anymore though as I've reached a point where I chose to enjoy the game(s) for what they are because I don't have time for endless tweaking of sliders and whatnot. But I guess I'd be worried if I were still looking for absolute realism as it seems to be less and less what EA is about.

That's the attitude I've finally been able to fully embrace lately and it's done wonders for my enjoyment. These are video games. They will never be real football. That doesn't mean they can't be fun. If you expect a true-to-life experience in football, the last place you should look is a video game.

I think there is legitimate reason for worry. Madden has 1/3 of the stadiums and teams that NCAA has. I just dont see them being able to detail 120+ stadiums, plus include all the stuff that MUST be included for all of us NCAA fans.

If they focus on graphics like they did Madden, then its HIGHLY possible that we will see NCAA light this year, and get a fuller version in 2007. I also think that we may get the game later than normal...say 3-4 weeks later to cover for all the stuff they may be trying to squeeze in.

Re: Are you worried about NCAA Football - Next-gen?

I'm not worried at all about NCAA '07 on the next-gen platforms. So far, EA is following the exact same formula they did back in 2000-01 with the early football titles:

-Releasing a barebones version of the next-gen Madden franchise: For the most part, they did the exact same thing with Madden 2001 on the PS2. Madden 2002 was much more polished since they had the time to work on it.

-And it might be a brief history, but the NCAA Football series didn't exactly come out of the gates weak on the PS2, mainly because they did in fact have more time to work on it. NCAA 2002 is still one of my favorite football titles (when I actually found a copy that worked lol) to this day, and it was the first edition of the series to come out on the PS2.

That said, I'm not too worried about either NCAA or Madden 2007 right now. I honestly think they'll both be good.

Oh yeah, and speaking of NCAA 2002, BRING THE THEME MUSIC BACK!!
