The Austin Wranglers might add Neon to their team colors.

Deion Sanders met with Wranglers officials Wednesday in Austin to discuss joining the arena football organization. Sanders and team officials did not specify what type of role he is seeking.

"I'm very interested in arena football," Sanders said. "I love the game and have loved it for years. I really just have the time and commitment to give to it, so I'm exploring the opportunities."

Sanders played 15 years in the NFL, including five seasons in the late 1990s with the Dallas Cowboys and the past two seasons with the Baltimore Ravens.

The signing period for Arena Football League free agents has passed for this year, but Sanders didn't rule out joining the Wranglers on the field.

"If I don't like what I see, I may just have to go down there and play," Sanders said, half-joking.

The Wranglers lead their division with a 7-3 record this season but lack

the visibility that comes with a big-name attached to the team. Philadelphia and Denver, by contrast, have built-in name recognition from owners Jon Bon Jovi and John Elway.

The Wranglers like the idea of adding "Prime Time" to their image.

"We would love to have Deion get involved with this team, and we're exploring all the different structures that would be beneficial for him and the team," Wranglers team President Doug MacGregor said.
