New York Giants at the Superdome vs the New Orleans Saints

Giants win 34-17

Saints opened the scoring with the first drive of the game hitting a fg to go up 3-0. After some good defense and alternating possesions, the giants score on a Warner to Shockey 63 yard td pass to go up 7-3. A few plays later Brent Alexander picks off an Aaron Brooks pass and seemingly returns it 46 yards for a touchdown. However it was called back for clipping during the return. Giants later score on that drive with a fg to go up 10-3.

In the 2nd quarter Brooks throws a bomb to Horn to tie the game at 10 a piece with a 50 yard td pass. Giants answer back with a 50 yard td pass of their own with a Warner to Hilliard connection.

In the 3rd quarter giants get the ball first and immediately go up 24-10 with another Warner to Hilliard td pass of 34 yards. Giants add another fg to go up 27-10. Saints come right back as Brooks hits Joe Horn for another long td pass of 55 yards to cut the lead to 24-17.

4th quarter was all Tiki Barber as he on the day ended up with 149 yards on 25 carries. On one drive in the 4th Tiki had 47 yards rushing which culminated with a tiki 1 yard plunge to end any saints chance at winning the game. With a 34-17 score giants go to a 1-0 record while the saints fall to 0-1. Next game gaints at bengals, saints at cards.

Arizona at Oakland
The Cardinals struggled out of the gate. 3 Interceptions and a Fumble led to a Raider 20-0 first half lead. Oakland then got conservative and Arizona began to chip away. It was 20-3 at the half, and 20-10 by the end of the 3rd quarter. The Cards scored again with a field goal in the 4th to make it a one score game, but the Raiders held on the following possession and Arizona ran out of time.

Final: Oakland 20 Arizona 13.

CIN 17 VS SF 37

With the first game of the season and Niners were trying to get a good start and that they did, With the first half a close battle the Niners slipped too far ahead of the Bengals.

1st Qtr. Extremely tight battle with no points for either team.

2nd Qtr. The Niners strike first with a 20yrd pass to Lloyd for SF td. Cinn’s Kitna throws an Interception to Smith for a SF defensive TD making it 14-0. Cinn would not fold. They capped a long drive with a 1yrd Johnson run making it 14-7. SF answers the call and scores on a 59yrd TD pass to Lloyd across the middle making it 21-7. Cinn gets a late FG making it close 21-10. Back and forth 2nd qtr.

3rd Qtr. SF put the clamps on defensively and blanked the bengals in the 3rd and adding two more FGs making it 27-7.

4th Qtr With the score 27-7 Cinn needed to make things happen and happen soon. Although they scored a late TD the Niners Defense added another Interception for a TD and another FG to end the game 37-17.

Defense and Turnovers were the key for the Niners success.

GG here!

Those two defensive touchdowns absolutely killed me. I might have to start Palmer next game after Kitna's jawdroppingly bad performance. Haha.

New York Giants at Paul Brown Stadium vs the Cincinnatti bengals

Giants win 38-24

The Scoring opened up with the giants first possesion. Their drive was a 10 play 83 yard drive which culminated with a Warner to Toomer 36 yard td pass to give them the lead 7-0. Bengals immediately answer back with a Kitna to Warrick 74 yard td pass to tie it at 7 all.

2nd Quarter: after a long drive Dayne runs 4 yard to pay dirt to give the g-men a 14-7 lead. Then Warner hits shockey on a 62 yard td pass to go up 21-7. The Bengals end the first half scoring with a FG to make it 21-10.

3rd Quarter: a sack of Kitna by Terry Cousin causes a fumble which is recovered by Duckett in Bengal territory inside the 10. Giants can't capitalize with a touchdown as Bengals d stiffens and are left with a fg that puts the giants up 24-10. Later on Kitna hits Houshmanzadeh for a 77 yard td pass to make the score 24-17. Then on their next possesion Kitna hits Chad Johnson on a 70 yard td pass to tie the game at 24 all (if your wondering I think johnson did the crip walk for his td celebration).

4th Quarter: game is tied 24-24 and Warner throws an interception in bengals territory. Benglas then move the ball into giants territory but can not get close enough for a score as their Fg attempt is no good. Giants capitalize on the good field position and Warner hits toomer for a 15 yard touchdown pass to go up 31-24. Bengals with the ball trying to get the tying score, when Kitna throws an int to Gibril Wilson who then returns it 81 yards for a touchdown and the capper. Giants win 38-24, they move on to face Arizona at giants stadium sporting a 2-0 record while the Bengals travel out west to oakland with an 0-2 record.

Re: *OSFL SEASON 2* Game Results Reporting Thread

What isn't clear from this recap is the fact that Kitna had 350 yards and 3 td, no int in the middle of the third, then collapsed in the 4th for the second consecutive game with terrible ints. Oh Jon Kitna. Why must you devastate me so?

WEEK #2

Cardinals 17 *** Saints 13

It was all Cardinals early as Q1 saw them march on a 10 play drive that was capped off by a 6 yd McCown run to the right as no receivers could bail him out.

In Q2, another sustained drive that culminated in a 17 yard McCown/Boldin connection, putting the redbirds up 14-0. But then New Orleans buckled down late in the half to bring them to within striking distance. From their own 24, it took Brooks and co. only 4 plays to march downfield with the key strike coming to Stallworth for a 48 yard gain and the ensuing pass to Lewis for the 10 yard TD catch. Then with only 30 secs. left in the half McCown, not listening to his head coach decides to get greedy, coughing up the ball once leaving the pocket to his right on a smackdown by Bellamy. Several plays later, Carney boots the 21 yarder through to bring the score to 14-10 at the half.

Q3 was dominated time wise by the Saints, but found their 14 play drive stall at the Arizona 18. Carney knocks through his second on the day making it 14-13.

In Q4, New Orleans tries to keep a drive alive as they go for on 4th and 1 with over 7 mins. to go in the game. But Deuce got stuffed right side killing the drive. After exchanging punts, the Cards took over around the 3:30 mark when on their 5th play of the drive McCown connected to what could have been a drop by Boldin, though some how reeled in the 35 yarder all the way down to the Saints 10. After several short run plays to kill time and Saints time-outs, Rackers chipped one in from the 22. The Saints made a galant effort for last minute magic, as they were able to connect on a long strike all the way down to the Arizona 32, however, the ensuing play saw a Brooks sack and time expire.

Hard battle of momentum shift, that could have gone either way.

Offensive player of the game goes to Josh McCown who was 9/18 for 151 and 1 passing and 1 rushing TD.

Defensive player of the game honors are for Jay Bellamy who forced the late 1st half fumble and changed the game around for the Saints.

GG, silk...... looking fwd to the next!
