A Current NFL Legends Team?

I've been wanting to make a team of current "legends"... I suppose it would basically be today's allstars.

So far I've made Manning, Tomlinson (both Gold), and Ward (Silver).

I'm having trouble deciding on other players though, as well as what skills and level they should be.

I'm curious if anyone else has been working on an all-current stars team.

I kind of like the idea of the new vs the old.

Wow, nice list.

Romo would be a bronze, tho.

Re: A Current NFL Legends Team?

That's an awesome list - exactly what I was hoping we'd get on this board :) I don't know about players, so I can't really give much input - but I can say it's exactly what I was looking for. If you have time to get up some skills for them, that would be great. I'm sure some other people could probably give you better input as to what they think players should have.

Personally I gave manning the laser arm, leadership, and play stealing. I think I gave ward tough in the middle and acrobatic catches. It's hard - because from what I've seen he's also really fast, and is a great blocker - but you can only have so many skills. So what I did was kind of put the ones I needed most from him.

Perhaps that's not a bad idea? Giving a list of their actual strengths so that people can sort of pick and choose the ones they need from them? Instead of making each player a generic. Because, like Ward, you simply can't get all the skills the player has because it's limited - but there's room to mix and match the skills that you need from him, leaving out ones you can do without.

Re: A Current NFL Legends Team?

I'm sorry but Brett is a gold. That's my first impression of that list.

As for his skills?

Laser Arm
Leadership
Tough As Nails

Also up for debate ^

Re: A Current NFL Legends Team?

So many things I could dispute, but overall pretty good.

Jackson should be gold RB, Gore should too probably, and Westbrook is borderline.

McNabb should be gold, Favre should definately not be.

Clements should be gold.

My biggest beef is Romo at silver. He's not that good at all. Definately bronze. If Favre is bronze then Romo should be.

Re: A Current NFL Legends Team?

You don't have Patriots DE Richard Seymour on that list at all. This is just wrong. ESPN just did an article of the 50 current players who will be in the hall of fame some day. Of all current players, Richard Seymour is #6. If that doesn't qualify him for gold status on your list, then I don't know what would.

Re: A Current NFL Legends Team?

May I ask why you put Favre, the only 3-time NFL MVP and future holder of the TD, Wins, INT records at a bronze?

Favre is a better QB than Elway and Steve Young, and is up there on the level of Marino and Montana (not the past couple years, but in his prime).

McNabb is a silver, I wouldn't put Romo in the game but if I did it would be bronze.

Frank Gore should stay as a silver - he's only had one good year so far.

If we are comparing to the legends, Steve Smith should be a silver (if we are just comparing to todays NFL players, he can stay a gold). Randy Moss should be a gold.

As stated, Richard Seymour would be a gold. AJ Hawk should be on DeMeco Ryans level (so either bump him up to a silver, or DeMeco down to a bronze) as they had similar seasons. The only two people to have more tackles than Hawk last season (who had 112 solo tackles, 155 total according to Packers.com, 12x according to ESPN.com) were DeMeco and Lance Briggs.

Al Harris should be a bronze or silver (depending on how you feel of course.) He gave up 1 touchdown in coverage in 2005, and 2 in 2006. In 2005 he broke the Packers passes defensed (?) record with 28. In 2005, they also had the #1 pass defense in the NFL.
