As you can see up to your left, I'm a loooong member here. I RARELY, very rarely ask help from the community. I've been around so long, I can remember when Nat was just a bump in her mommy's tummy.

Keeping that in mind, I couldn't find an obvious place to post this and I am truly looking for honest, informed and unbiased opinions of a community I consider second to none on the web.

I am currently in a situation where today is my birthday (42nd, August 3rd) .. and I am trying to raise my daughter on my own with no help at all .. no family, no mom, just me, dad. So, I get ONE game for my 360. Anything else would be irresponsible what with school clothes and supplies and cheerleading uniforms and such. Please help me with honest, not fanboy, opinions.

Madden 08 or Forza 2?

I enjoy both sports equally. I do not have an HDTV. I do not have a wheel, though I'd love to have one, I just can't justify the money for myself. When you are a dad alone, you just can't spend $130 for a peripheral.

If you feel strongly about something other than the two selections I have chosen, please .. I respect the opinions of those here. You guys are, quite simply and hands-down The Best Community There Is. It is why I turn to here for this important decision.

Please weigh in with your honest-to-goodness, unbiased opinion on the most bang for the buck .. because I can only get one. And, again, it's not predicated on "which ever one you like best". I like them both about equal. NCAA scared me away with the posts here about the turnover bug. If you'll notice my post count vs. my registration date, you'll see I keep my mouth SHUT and LISTEN to what this community says. I consider it gospel after filtering through the junior high chaff. I fully realize who the major players here are and, while reading everyone's opinion, I weigh things heavily in favor of the true heavy hitters on the OS forums and you know who you are.

Please, I'm asking for your opinion, just your personal opinion ..

This will have to last me to Christmas with only one game to play.

I'm a dad that is trying to be reponsible. Can you help a fellow father out?

My GREAT thanks for every opinion expressed. All will be read and devoured to the extreme and taken completely to heart. I even have the hope that ole Gimp Knee with the fatal Pistons fix might even weigh in. :-)

Brother, it all comes down to which sport, etc. you like the best. Trust your gut decision and personal preference on this one. There are tons of great games out, and Forza 2 and Madden are no exception. Both good games.

If you have Madden 07, go with Forza. If you do not have a previous recent version of Madden, go with 08.

Damn guy ya had me tearing up from that.

Forza 2 is a can't miss. It's already been reviewed as a solid title with longevity and tons of fun. Did you play Forza 1? If not, even better.

Madden isn't out yet. I don't think anyone can recommend a title that has yet to be released. We have no idea if there's going to be some nagging bug or what not that might hamper the game. Also, (IMO) most vids have been pretty lackluster up to this point. Gameplay seems similar to previous versions but again, the game isn't out yet. Franchise/Owner mode can def. keep you busy for a while.

Tough call, but only going from past versions of Madden I would have to lean towards Forza 2. I don't think anyone can answer this question without more info and/or having played Madden '08.

If you are going to buy one of these two games between now and the end of the year, I'd consider the season you'll be playing the game. When we are in the middle of fall, and the NFL season is in its prime, you may get the itching to play with your favorite team, thereby making Madden more appealling.

Forza 2 is a fun game, especially with friends online, but if it were me, I think I'd go with the game that's going to represent the sport that's fresh in my mind.

One other game to think about is Oblivion. Make sure you're a fan of RPG games, though. Just figured I'd throw a non-sport consideration out there.

It's a HUGE game that you could literally get hundreds and hundreds of hours out of, just exploring and doing so many different things. Just figured I'd throw that out there.

I haven't played Forza 2 yet, but really enjoyed Forza 1. Madden is, well, Madden.

1st let me say "Happy Birthday" stain. Secondly, PARED post seems about right, unless you need your Football Fix with Updated Rosters. If you just need your Football Fix & don't care about Updated Rosters, send me a PM, I'd be willing to send you my copy of Madden 07 (Very Condition) as a B-DAY Gift.

I know how it is to strap for cash. I am not rich, but I'd rather give my copy to someone, who will enjoy their time with it before I trade-it in to EB/GAMESTOP for a lousy 10 bucks. If your interested PM me :cheers:

I would say definately get Forza 2. Judging how you mentioned Forza specifically leads me to believe that you like the series. That being said, the difference between Forza and Forza 2 is well worth the purchase of 2. After playing Forza 2 myself, I just had to buy the wheel. But that's just me. I'm not suggesting you buy a wheel at all.

Now Madden. Just using judgement solely off videos, there isn't much difference in watching a gameplay video of Madden 2007 and 2008. But, if you must have your NFL fix over a racing series I suggest you get Madden then.
