Weapons are the cause of the Erratic Gameplay!
 

Okay guys I've seen many complaints about the gameplay from users on various boards, some say it's realistic while others claim the opposite. I did some testing on the game by pushing all sliders to zero except QB Acc. and WR Catching on ALL difficulties. The thing is that the defensive AI for the computer makes superman breaks for the ball. Does this make the passing harder? Yes. But does it make it realistic, NO.

So as I was playing around with the settings, I finally tried to see how the game would play without the weapons system. To my suprise the game played much better without the weapons.

- The User QB makes more precise throws, the wide receivers makes more efforts for the ball.

- The CPU's defensive AI makes plays on the balls, except they won't make those "superman" breaks for the balls. The defend realistically, And will pick off bad throws.

- Fumbles are REDUCED

- Better Pass Protection from you O-line.


BUT, this does not make the Weapons system pointless by any means. The difference between the CPU AI, and the Human's AI, is that the CPU's always work whitin synch, the Human's has to adjust to the User always controlling one player. The weapons system is hardly problematic when playing against another human player. The tougher defenses allow for a much better quality of play.

So in short:

1. When playing against the CPU - Turn the Weapons off.
2. When playing against a USER - Keep the weapons on.

Try it out and let me know how it works out.

Could you say how many games you tested this theory, specifically against the CPU? Do you have any stats?

I thought that turning off weapons stritly turned off the visual icon, it didn't have any effect on the ratings.

From my understanding the weapons system can't be turned off. Just the visual icons. Could be wrong though.

You can do both. Weapons can be turned off completely. I didn't even think of that until post.

This might have saved madden for me.

I've close to 20 games while testing against the CPU, and 10 while playing against my brother (User). Sorry, I didn't record stats, but I was on was playing on default sliders. The stats aren't the problem I'm trying the solve, it's the erractic gameplay, ESPECIALLy on All-Madden.

The stats can be fixed with slider settings, but it isn't my concern.

If you play on AM they are shut off by default.
