Position change question

Is there an effect on ratings when you swap a recruit's position? I'm not talking about ATH, but rather a LB to DE move or RB to LB move. If so, how much of an effect is there and does it vary by position?

Re: Position change question

It varies by position, you can see it when you try to change the position. It'll say what his overall rating for the position he was at and the new one.

Also, for whatever stupid reason EA decided that if you switch positions your players loses the speed he had. I had a 5* ATH that I recruited and if I plugged him in at SS his speed dropped into the mid-80s when normally it was a 96.

This pissed me off so bad. I have to have speed at the RB position and my Freshman RB just wasn't that fast. Like 86 or so. Moved him to FB to help out in the passing game and triple option, speed dropped to 71.

i remember in the original xbox version the ratings would change then go back up in the training period. not in the 360 version. its busted.

This happened to me too. My mid-80s SPD HB molded cement around his feet when I moved him to FB. I would expect some loss in speed with the weight gain, but it was hilarious.

He had been injured at the end of the prior season, though, so I just pretended that that was the reason.

I also dont like the difficulty (in time it takes) to see if youre players would be better suited at another position. One thing one could do is look in your depth chart to see if somebody from another position is rated highly on your depth chart for a different position. This of course can't be done when you're actually making those changes, but can be good to keep in mind for the next off season. (Case in point: i had a LT that was naturally second on my TE depth chart in the mid 80s. I used him a lot at TE when he was a backup tackle, but when he became good enough to start (and was a mid 90s tackle) i kept him at his natural position. I could've easily switched him to a TE (and he was a biggun 6'5 330) and he would've succeeded, but i already had good TEs and my depth was less at tackle.

I've noticed on PS2 if you move a RB to any posistion on defense his speed stays the same so when I'm at small schools I just recruit a ton of RB's and put them on defense.
