"As for last year's franchise debut of All-Pro Football, it apparently didn't make the cut. When asked about the absence of a football game on the company's release schedule, Take-Two execs said it had been taken off the slate, but they were continuing to weigh their options." - @ FiringSquad
"There will not be a new football title from 2K Sports this year (the company released the non-NFL licensed All-Pro Football 2K8 in 2007) but Take Two execs stated they are still looking at perhaps releasing a new football game sometime in the future."

Re: APF 2k9 is no longer "on the slate" for release
Which is what me and BK have been saying the entire timeAccording to a gamespot article today in which Take Two executives were talking about financial performance and which games were being worked on, they said that All Pro Football did NOT make the cut and that it wasn't on the slate for release. However, they said, they are still "weighing their options."

. It's not even being worked on at this point, but from a company standpoint I understand their decision.

Yeah, I just saw that. Not really surprising.
Take-Two also had news for a few of its other franchises. After Carnival Games on the Wii proved a surprisingly strong seller last year, the publisher is extending the brand. By the end of October, Take-Two plans to ship a DS version of Carnival Games, as well as a Wii-exclusive spin-off, Carnival Games: Mini-Golf. As for last year's franchise debut of All-Pro Football, it apparently didn't make the cut. When asked about the absence of a football game on the company's release schedule, Take-Two execs said it had been taken off the slate, but they were continuing to weigh their options."Comment

Dammit. I love this game. I get the industry part and the good business sense part, but a part of me dies with this game/franchise. Melodramatic, yet, but none the less true for that. Thank God I have The Show.Comment

Re: APF 2k9 is no longer "on the slate" for release
That's weird, I just talked with the 2K Sports Community Manager yesterday...
I don't think it's off the slate. If it is, then they haven't informed their staff yet. lolComment

Re: APF 2k9 is no longer "on the slate" for release
This is terrible news.
APF is one of my favorite games of all time. The Online game was just a thing of beauty.
I think I had over 220 games online, so that rounds out to about 200 hours of gameplay.
I dont think I have ever played a game that much in my life.
Very sad day for us. Im keepin 2K8.
Pour one out for em boys.GT: Event Horizon 0Comment

Re: APF 2k9 is no longer "on the slate" for release
I'd believe what the Take Two execs have to say on the subject more than i'd believe what the 2K Sports Community managers have to say about it. I'm sure TT has kept the game in development on the offchance it actually gets the greenlight. But like the above poster said, there's a very good chance TT will have been sold by the time the game would've been released anyway and it's probably unlikely that APF will be a priority to the new owner considering the hard numbers. It's just not a strong business move to keep it going.Comment

Re: APF 2k9 is no longer "on the slate" for release
I'll just copy what I posted on the MM thread:
APF had great gameplay but was basically half a game, if you're not interested in online play it has nothing for you. They rushed it out as quickly as they could to beat Madden. Considering that I think it sold decent. They should at least make one with a full year dev cycle and not six months. Give it a full franchise mode as deep as 2k5 and then some. The presentation is already miles ahead of EA but not as good as 2k5's, so raise the bar again.
If they did that and gave it good customization, I think it would sell at least 500k. Without the NFL license it will never overtake Madden but there are enough people sick of EA that it can do well enough to make money.
Very sad if this ends up being their final decision, and I think a bad one.Comment
