Can u throw a bomb without Max Passing on?

Hey guys,
When i try to throw a bomb it never seems to go further than 30-35 yards, no matter how lightly I tap the pass button. On APF2K8, when u tap the button, the QB rares back and slings the ball easily over 50 yards. Just wondering if it's a limitation with the game & you have to use maximum passing to really chuck it??

Thats one thing thats always bothered be a bit. When you do throw one it almost seems to hang in the air. I do think pushing up with maximum passing might send it a little further, and obviously lead the receiver. That might be something I've been doing for a long time now without realizing it. Just have got used to doing it when having single coverage on a go route.

It could just be the arm strength of your QB.

Or, you could think of it like this: how often does a QB in real life get to stand around and throw a 50 yard bomb. Every time a QB completes a 50 yd pass, it cuz he completed a 20-30 yards pass and got some YAC.

If you really wanna see if it's possible go to Scrimmage mode and select "offense only". Then throw Hail Mary's.

I think it may be a combination of how hard you press the respective WR's button and, of course, the pattern he takes, coupled with the actual arm strength of the QB. What I mean is that if you have a WR that can run that pattern, a QB with good enough arm strength and get the timing of the pattern down, there may be a happy medium between a tap and the hardest press on the button. The nice thing is that even if there isn't, you can always up the arm strength of the QB using Finn's editor. Let us know what you find out.

I just wanted to chime back in on this subject real fast and say that last night i went into scrimmage mode and threw hail mary bombs with no defense on the field. I used the Raiders (puja's rosters), since Russel's arm strength is a 98 and McCown's is a 75. There is a difference in how far the QB can throw the ball. Russel's bombs could almost 60 yards, whereas McCown's went just about 40. And that was no Max Passing either. And the results were about the same for either QB if I tapped the ball or drilled it. Drilling it actually cost me a few yards. I also, did Tom Brady who arm is an 87 and it went about 45 yards and the farthest.

On a side note, I did get to see a new throwing animation.
