This is our Playoff Season!!! We went 8-8 with back-up QB,RB, and WR this should be a great year...

Mike Bell (RB) signs with the Texans. Seems like all the Broncos to get cut/released get on board with Kubiak

Keys to the season, IMO

1. Injuries - I know this goes for all teams, but especially Houston. We led the NFL in players on I/R the last two seasons. We need our guys on the field. The games that we had Green, Schaub, And Johnson together, the offense played great. Unfortunately, we only had them together for 2 or 3 games.

2. Divisional play - We were 8-8 last year while being 1-5 within the AFC South. That's 7-3 against the rest of the NFL, which isn't bad. We have to steal one from Indy, and we have to at least split with Ten & Jax. An even 3-3 might have put in the playoffs last year, 3-3 is the minimum if we expect to contend this year.

3. Turnovers - This just has to improve. We all know how coaches feel about winning the turnover battle, and last season we were downright terrible. In training camp, the offense is wearing shorts that read, ''Protect the ball''. The defense wears, ''Take it away''.

If we improve those 3 areas, get a few breaks, and have a few teams fall off a bit in the super competitive AFC, we may have a real chance at a playoff game.

::Jim Mora:: Playoffs?!?!

Wow, huge time gap here. I'll fill it in.

The Texans went 8-8 with Andre Johnson having a monster year. AJ led the NFL in yards and catches. Schaub was hurt again, but still managed to pass for 3,000 yards. He looks like he may have turned a corner in the second half of the season. Steve Slaton was a huge surprise as a rookie. he rushed for over 1,200 yards, and was deserving of a ProBowl spot. Owen Daniels had another solid season, and was rewarded with his first ProBowl trip. The Texans finished 3rd in offense but only 17th in scoring. Turnovers were a huge problem again, as well as red zone scoring.

The defense was terrible again, which led to Richard Smith being fired. The Texans allowed 27 or more points in 12 games. The defense got a little better when Dunta Robinson returned from injury. Mario Williams had another great season, and made his first ProBowl as well.

With the new defensive scheme, defense has been the big topic of the offseason. The Texans signed Antonio Smith away from Arizone to play DE opposite Mario. Cato June was brought in at LB, and with the draft just 10 days away, it looks like a LB from USC is a good possibility.

A really optimistic forecast sees 12-4. A really pessimistic forecast sees 7-9. It's still way too early to predict anything though.
