    How's Your Career Doing?

I took Tampa Bay and kept Gruden there since I think he is an awesome coach, plus I didn't want to deal with the daunting task of making my own coach (especially without the guide.)

Well, I started in the off-season and traded up to draft Glenn Dorsey. I unlocked his potential pre-draft and when I saw it at 95 I had to get him. He is already 90 overall, and is only going to get better if I can keep him from getting injured. I drafted TE Carlson from ND and it was a bad decision, but whatever. My only really good draft pick was Dorsey although I did get an undrafted FA QB that is only 66 right now, but has 88 (I think that was it) potential.

So far in the regular season I am 1-1. I lost 45-42 in OT to New Orleans and beat the Falcons 56-28 the following week.

So, how are you guys doing? I keep hearing tidbits about each of your career's thread to thread and am very interested to hear of your successes and failures.

    Re: How's Your Career Doing?

    - I created myself as coach of the Raiders, focusing most of my skill-points on skills that develope the QB position (hoping to speed along J***ssell's developement).

    - Started in the Pre-Season with a custom playbook for offense and defense.

    - I rebuilt the offensive line through free-agency.

    - McFadden missed all of training camp because we couldn't agree on a contract

    - I added three new WR's; James Jones (trade with Greenbay), R.Grice Mullen (free-agent), and B.Williams (free agent).

    - One of the training-camp invitees at LOLB turned out to be a physical-specimen with a lot of potential; 6'5, 245, 91 SPD...his awareness attributes are low, but I'm gonna work with him and see if he pans out.

    - In our first pre-season game we weren't prepared because I spent that week trying to get McFadden up to speed; so the rest of the team didn't learn much of the playbook. Result, a 38-7 blowout at the hands of the 49er's.

    - We completed our second game today and with a much better week of practice we beat the Titans 20-7.

...When I get home from work I'm going to work on some 4-3 defensive plays and see which players are next to be cut.

1-0 so far with the Ravens. I started after the draft with myself as coach and a ton of created plays. I traded a 2009 3rd and a 2010 5th for Favre. I tried to trade Ray Lewis, but I couldn't get a good deal for him.

i created a coach and took over the bears. we're 2-2 right now. we're up 13-7 at the half right now against the lions. we're most likely going to win this game. they just got one big play off. the giants offered me sinorice moss for a draft pick so i took it. devin hester and greg olsen are really turning into studs. moss keeps dropping passes. hester and olsen are open every play. these guys are making byron leftwich look like an all american. hes only 66 overall and looks like peyton manning sometimes. he has his off days, but im impressed by him. we cant get a decent ground game going.

I'm made myself Texans coach. Got Lance Briggs in FA, Drafted Mike Jenkins, got a 89 OVR FS (Forgot his name), upgraded some OL, and since CAP Space was limited I went after Julius Jones as my temporary RB. Traded for Dawan Landry (Included Chester Pitts and draft picks). Got one good undrafted rookie DE (Buddy Jackson? 81 Ovr, solid potential). I'm 2-0 right now beat the Steelers in a tight one and blew out Baltimore. Approval is at 93 right now (3 for 3 on Defining Moments!). Got a big game against Tennessee coming up.

Just a side note, I can't run the ball to save my life, but I've created like 3 plays that are absolutely money to go along with my playbook (Al Saunders). Also, I really like DLaren's Defensive play (ManUp), its working really well so far, I rated it 5 stars.

              auburntigersfan, Whats up man.

I need some serious help...i can't stop playing this game.

I took over Washington, since they had a real head coaching change and started in the off-season. I hate the old Joe Gibbs style with tiny receivers so I signed DJ Hackett to a 5 year 29 Mil contract in free agency. He was my main signing, though I had a few signing of guys like 80 overall to improve some depth.

In the draft I wanted to do something that I thought was cool, and that was draft Kenny Phillips from DA U to play SS with the loss of Sean Taylor (RIP). So the draft went like this..
              1-SS Kenny Phillips
              2-RE Quentin Groves
              3-DT Red Bryant
              3-WR Mario Manningham

Right now I am still in preseason but it's such a good time. Manningham seems to have a ton of upside, but has a lot of character issues. I think it will be fun trying to keep him in line.

What kind of practices did you run that week to get up to speed? Schefter keeps saying i am less prepared than my preseason foes.

had to start over due to the "injury glitch". but started the pre-season out 1-0 with a Raiders victory over the Niners 56-6. pretty much kept the team the same as the roster update kept. but if i played the Niners like i do every time, theres no need for a change

                  Defense is dominate!

                    Re: How's Your Career Doing?

I thought I would post a little on my first career. I played as the Dolphins and rebuilt the OL in FA. I traded Jason Taylor to try to get more picks. I wanted a 2nd round pick in 08 for him and I put him on the block. It took 3 times of him coming up to be traded to finally get it to work. But I dealt Taylor to Arizona for a 2nd and 7th round pick.

Next item I see on the bottom line "Arizona releases LE Jason Taylor"

...uhh ok. Then Shefter comes on and cites Salary Cap issues! This was just my first run through and I learned alot while doing it. My teams played terrible and my approval dropped from like 75 to 50 within the first 2 regular season weeks. So I decided to restart with another team and I choose another "Very hard" team, the Bills.

They look a lot easier than the Dolphins. How can they be rated very hard? 2 solid options at QB (I chose Edwards), a good RB with great potential, a great receiver and another good one, a decent O-Line, a decent D-Line (if overpaid), a good LB core and several good FS/SS. The only big weakness is at CB, and the high draft pick used wisely can help. I plan on trading down to get more picks and selecting Brandon Flowers in the late first round. I think he will fit perfectly into the Cover 2 defense I have in place.

I think I can right the ship and get moving pretty soon, only real weakness is the playbooks.

I traded for Elvis Dumervill to satisfy "Acquire a 85 OVR RE." He was a left end but I switched him when I got him but the goal wasn't accomplished. I hope I get the goal acheived. I also need a TE and a ROLB. I haven't seen any I liked. I need to trade for them maybe.

                      Re: How's Your Career Doing?

I decided to start things off easy, and with my team, so I went with Dallas. Pretty easy going, I have been developing Jenkins and he's already at the same level as Henry.

A rookie WR was invited to my camp, he had a really high learning grade, decent speed, but bad size. I kept him around and found he has a potential of 88, so he will be my slot receiver in favor of Sam Hurd, and may even replace Crayton in time, barring height issues.

Felix Jones is coming along well also, with a potential of 92, and his current rating after week 4 at 83 (started at 79,)

3-1 so far, lost 21-24 to Green Bay, made some bad playcalls early on, and the 2 minute drill situation didn't help out either as Green Bay marched down the field for a field goal with 50 seconds left on the clock.

I started at the offseason with the Jets, landed both McFadden and Brian Brohm. Brohm's got a 91 potential, which is pretty good considering Pennington is awful, and running offense with Clemens is a nightmare. I'm going to try and Matt Schaub him though. He's started from Day 1, and has thrown 6 TDs and 0 Ints. I try run the ball as much as possible, but it seems like McFadden needs to get his awareness up a bit more, he's only averaging about 3.6 ypc, and I'm guessing that's a combination of bad line play, and inexperience. Brohm does go deep a lot though both the Chris Baker and Coles.

I'm 2-2 so far, I promised the owner I would finish above .500 which is doable, with the schedule the Jets have. I have some glaring needs still both at LG and ROLB. I'll look to upgrade those positions in the offseason.

                          It's called 'ManUp'.

It's not for everyone, but try it out, it's a decent play with the right people in place.

Schefter has yet to comment on my practices. But I knew I had a better week simply because I had balance in my gameplan, instead of focusing on one or two players like I did the week before.

Im 0-1 in the preseason with the Niners after losing 26-17 to Oakland in Week 1. Currently in second week against Green Bay and its 0-0 heading into the second quarter, they missed a FG and I fumbled the ball when I was driving.

This isnt the place for this but I wanted to throw it out there, Im seeing a ton of dropped interceptions by both teams and Ive already raised it to 60 for both me and the CPU, has anyone else raised this even more?

Just lost my first game with the Bears 55-7 to the Colts. Orton had a .8 rating with 3 picks. Wasn't pretty. Manning ate up my cover 2 even though most of my defensive plays were mastered. Back to the drawing board.
