EA Sports has just updated their NBA Live 09 blog, discussing some of the online details.

"My name is Julien Carron - I'm the online and visuals producer for NBA LIVE 09.

I've been working on NBA LIVE online for the last three years now.

As some of you may know, I am French like my boy Tony Parker, him and I share a bit of the same story in the sense that we had a goal of living our dream in North America , and worked hard towards achieving it. Today I'm very happy to live here in Vancouver Canada , and to work on my beloved NBA LIVE series. So if my grammar sounds unorthodox, this is probably why."

I like how you can have up to 3 guests on your team when you play online.

It's 3 total. You + 2 guests. That was in last year.

I don't understand why there isn't online coop play, i.e. 2-5 humans (from different consoles) vs. the CPU in an unranked match. There shouldn't HAVE to be ONE human player on both teams.

If you have buddies at home, and want to play some cooperative online, you can bring up to three friends (that we call "guests") with you into this game.

Okay. They added 1 more guest this year. It's unfortunate that it has to be from the same console.
