Getting The Patches for PS3

I have my PS3 in my room and my computer is downstairs. It will be too expensive for me to run an ethernet cable all that way. So my question is: How do I hook up my PS3 directly to my computer. A step by step guide would help. Thanks for all the help in advance

You can buy a 50ft ethernet cable for about $20 at Gamestop and you just plug one end in the back of your PS3 and the other end in the back of your computer. That's what I did before I had a router.

Wow. I didn't even know that they had ethernet cables that long but then again I never looked.
