Does anyone else think the receivers don't run their routes smooth enough?

This really bothers me. On last gen, I could literally(in practice mode) look at my receiver come off the line, time him off, close my eyes and hit him on a deep slant. That sounds ridiculous but its realistic. I've heard announcers talk about how Peyton Manning can throw to Marvin Harrison even in the dark.

But on this game, it's like something just isnt smooth about it, especially if it involves a play with more than one cut. And sometimes I cant tell if its the WR or the passing mechanics of the QB's. Sure I complete alot of passes, but it just doesnt feel as tight on the controls. But the control issues is a whole other can of issues I have with this game.

probably has to do with the new attributes in current-gen version of the game. there is a route running attribute.

I’m experiencing a similar issue when playing in Road 2 Glory mode as a QB, when playing the game the receivers on my team are not running the routes as described in the playbooks. For example I have either a WR or TE that is supposed to run a drag route or crossing route, but either one or both run slightly in routes the. Turn up field causing me to throw interceptions because as QB im expecting those receivers to run the routes as designed. Is this the AI changing the routes or is it something I’m doing wrong. Please let me know if anyone else is experiencing this issue? Thanks look forward to seeing your feedback.

I've noticed receivers who run worse routes than other receivers, which is realistic.

Also worth remembering that college quarterbacks and receivers aren't Peyton Manning and Marvin Harrison. What they can do probably shouldn't be used in any way to judge what college players are capable of.

Also, college football allows more contact in the secondary than in the NFL, which disrupts routes more often.

If anyone cares, this thread is 16 years old and about a much, much different version of the game.

            Good lord!

I saw the original post was from September and thought it was just something I hadn't noticed a few weeks ago. I didn't realize someone necroed a 16-year-old thread.

College receivers obviously shouldn't be as good as 2 Hall of Famers who played together for over a decade.

But this is probably the oldest thread I've ever seen brought back to life lol

How do you think I felt when I saw the thread title and it showed that I responded to it. I was like, I don't remember seeing this ticket last month, nor responding to it. then I saw the year.

16 year-old thread necromancy and the fact the OP was referring to NCAA Football 09 aside, there are a number of factors that would cause this. Younger receivers or those with lower OVR might have a higher probability of running inprecise or altogether incorrect routes and playing on the road in a hostile environment might also cause them to get rattled and not run their routes correctly. Also, there are some routes that proceed to a certain point then diverge as if the route runner has multiple options on where to go once he reaches a certain place on the field though I don't know how to predict or control which option they will choose. It is frustrating, but I suppose it does add a bit of realism as opposed to having your receivers run 100% flawless rouotes every time.

                    Wow. Some A+ grave-digging here! I didn't even notice!

If this is even an issue still (I think sometimes it is), I really hope it has to do with the 'route running' rating of a player, as I've always wondered how that gets implemented in the game.

This thread is so old he was referring g to Marvin Harrison as an active player and his son is now starting in the NFL lol

Necro'd thread aside, my problem with route running is they stand too upright and more importantly, the route running speed to pass rush ratio is off. I have 4 SS OL (all pass blockers) and I'm getting hit on a 4 man rush before my slot wr can make the cut on an 8 yard in. Pass blocking is bad in this game.

I don't remember the previous gen having route running ratings. I run a lot of drag routes and I pay close attention to the short route running number.

I see this game as an improvement because they aren't robots.
