I hope VC takes note of the camera being used in the World Series!
I really like the way they are directly behind the pitcher and up a bit instead of at an angle that we are used too. You can really see the movement on the ball from this view. You might even be able to hit from this view.Last edited by Blitzburgh; 10-23-2008, 09:05 PM.Tags: None -

VC better be taking note of more than just the camera angles...they should actually watch the game and notice how the ball moves, how the batters swing and the pitchers throw...start from there.... -

Please no. That camera angle is ridiculous.
The pitcher and batter were being squeezed into one corner of the screen at times. There's just too much empty space.
ESPN did it better in the past."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

It's too far away and off to one side, I agree, but just zoom in some and center it:Attached FilesComment

That is why there needs to be a custom camera like in NFL2k5 so that we can play the way we each like too. Then online, we can have our own views too. There is no right or wrong answer here, it's just a matter of preference.Comment

Zoom in and center it some would be good. But I think it should always be kept left-to-right.
I hated playing the MVP series' BTP view. It always shifted the camera angle when a lefty came up to the plate. It never felt like watching a broadcast."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Multiple (good) batting/pitching camera options would be desirable.
They're different from park to park and even from broadcaster to broadcaster in the same park so being able to move the thing around would be the way to go.Comment

I always disliked that too. It was that way in ASB 2005 as well. The view when a lefty comes up always reminds me of old footage of Reggie Jackson going deep three times in the world series. MVP and ASB has that kind of old school angle to it.Comment

I agree 100%. From a design standpoint this CAN'T be too hard to implement. It took me a few hours to get the hang of editing the MVP05 (PC MODDED) datafile to customize pitching/hitting/fielding cameras to suit my taste. I would imagine a simple utility can be put into the game that can achieve something similar.
Here's me talking outta my behind, but hear me out...
Perhaps the utility can closely resemble the 'instant replay' screen. The toolbar can be identical, and can be used to define a custom camera view. Adding a button on the toolbar that says something like "lock & save" would allow you to save your custom camera to your HDD. Switching to your new camera should be as easy as going to the settings as choosing from all the custom views you've created.
Although this seems simple enough, I know it will never happen. In other words I won't hold my breath.
I wish game developers would understand how much replay value this would add to their game.2006 - present, NY Mets Season Ticket HolderComment

Maybe so, but I bet the only reason a real broadcast DOESN'T do it that way is because of the added expense/space of having another center field camera. Why not take advantage of the fact that a video game is not so limited?Of course, if Dawson gets hot, and
Sutcliffe comes through, and....
Pa, see what you did to me?

Why did I bump this old-as-heck thread? Because it seems VC has taken notice. Nice job, OS'ers!

lol...that's a pretty good point. The camera work they've shown thus far for 2K9 has been fantastic

Then again, the other two suggestions weren't taken into consideration (omit pitcher cam over left shoulder for lefties, change crack of bat sound). I know the former is an option, but I don't know anyone that prefers that.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment
