Here is what he suggested:
"I appreciate all the hard work Blue. Your tactics adjustments opened my eyes to the game. One question though. Have you tried playing the game with all manual controls? I know what you're going to say, but seriously, it is a completely different game when played on all manual. That, combined with changing both the CPU's and your defensive tactics to deep, contain, and cover (your suggestion), alllows for a slower, more patient build-up game (even from those teams who are designed to play route-one).
It also gives you more time on the ball, because the CPU will back off until you get near the 18 yd. box before pouncing on you, which is realistic, because by being in "contain" mode, it won't want to leave space in the back. Also, by playing deep, it will start any attack further back than normal, giving you time to organise your defense (in other words, face up, play L2+R2+X, and make the CPU re-think its attack and pass the ball around patiently).
Just give it a go and see what you think. I'd hate for you to go through so much editing, when by simply playing manual and adjusting defense only, can really change the game into a more free-flowing dynamic experience. It's really difficult to get the hang of, but once you do, you won't want to play it any other way."
The manual controls just further enhance the gamplay. Give it a try.
When you go into custom tactics go down to defense:
1. Pressure - Drop to 33 and look at the radar screen up top and it should now say Deep.
2. Contain - Same as pressure, but will say contain next to radar
3. Defensive Line- Switch to cover.
Hope it's not to confusing.
