    Transfer Kit Issues!

Hey guys! I've had an xbox 360 console for over 2 months but never have used any roster files to transfer to MC. I have the transfer kit but can't get it to work. I have read the sticky here in this section on how to use the transfer kit.

I installed the 360XChange software first. Then I manually added the folder needed to recognize my roster files. When I go to the XChange window I do have all three options(To Mem,Delete,Edit) available from "Hard Drive" tab. None are blanked out so therefore all seem to be working right.

However, when I click(highlight) the roster file needed & then click on "To Mem" I'm getting the error "Memory Card Error, Please remove & re-insert the memory card". I've tried removing & re-inserting the MC on several attempts but same error reports every time.

What I can't understand is that I'm only getting one device listed under "USBIO Controlled Device" & under that the
"X360 MU USBIO- Device 1". I read that both the docking station & MC unit must be in device manager separately. I do have a device listed as "Memory Unit" under "Portable Devices" from device manager. This isn't listed under "USBIO Controlled Device" though.

BTW, I'm running Windows Vista & not XP. I've tried to remove & re-install the software several times as well. It's like the PC is saying the MC is corrupt or something. I did buy the MC from eBay & have never used this particular MC unit. It's a 64MB unit only. I do have an HDD that I plan on transferring the MC save over to from the 360.

I know when I first inserted the MC into the docking station I was prompted to install drivers. I don't have a cd for MC drivers & had to bypass that part. Do I need to download drivers from the web for the MC? I'm just lost as what to try now. I know I'm probably doing something wrong but can't seem to get it figured out. Help me on this guys! Thanks!

I followed the sticky page on the transfer kit page like I should. I think it may be buggy with Vista OS. The tutorial page on this is with Windows XP so I don't know.

I don't get a message about installing software when just plugging the USB docking station into the PC. However, when I have the memory card in the docking station & then plug into USB on PC then I do get software messages.

Having said that, I get 2 added devices in "device manager" when plugging into USB connection but in 2 different places. I get no device showing up when just plugging the docking station up to PC. It's like the docking station alone isn't being noticed so adding the memory card brings both to being noticed by Windows.

I'm kind of wishing I'd just got either XSATA or XPORT now. I do have an HDD(only 20GB though) & with the new dashboard it would be more beneficial to have a bigger HDD since you can now install games to HDD & decrease loading times of games. I mainly got the 20GB one for just game saves/rosters anyhow.

I purchased the MC just as an added extra in case of taking to family & friends for playing. It just seems the transfer kit is buggy with Vista but I'm not sure about that really. I just can't get both the docking station & memory card being recognized under "USBIO Controlled Devices". The MC shows up under "Portable Device" & the docking station under "USBIO Controlled Device". While both can't be recognized unless the memory card is plugged into the docking station. Geez! Thanks!

        Re: Transfer Kit Issues!

I've now read that once you install the drivers that came with the transfer kit software you're in a lot of trouble. That's what dummy me did even though I had already downloaded Xplorer360 software to use later. I can't get it to work now & I feel like taking my near $20 transfer kit & throw it out the window.

Why does something like this have to be so hard to get figured out? I mean it's like a darn puzzle trying to figure out what to do & try next. I would just get the XSATA but I've done spent $20 already for a kit that I was going to use quite a bit for MC transfers first. This is frustrating & why make such a piece of work that's so hard to get it to work on a dang PC? They(Datel) sure ain't gonna tell you to NOT install the drivers. Thanks Datel for your awesome piece of machinery. Geez!

Yeah! What's so weird is that I did inject the file with Xplorer360 onto a MC. I then took the MC to the console & loaded up NBA 2K9. The roster started auto-loading but then locks up every time.

Does the Xploer360 software work right with the transfer kit files? I mean it showed up on the MC but does freeze during loading process. I think it's a combo of Vista & buggy software. I'll try the XPort software you posted. Thanks!

              Re: Transfer Kit Issues!

I can't get it to work with XPort software either. The same thing happens as with Datel XChange software. MY MEMORY CARD ISN'T RECOGNIZED AGAIN. I think with the initial install of the drivers with the XChange software has really screwed up everything.

The darn driver installation has really caused me big problems. It's like pulling teeth or something. I downloaded the 360 MU drivers from another site & tried those but no luck. The thing that gets me is the docking station doesn't show up ALONE in Vista but when I plug my MC into it then both show up in device manager.

I'm at a lost as what to try next with the transfer kit issues. I certainly don't wanna go back to a restore to remove all the bad that the XChange drivers may have cuased. Any ideas as what I might need to do next? This is crazy with Vista. If I'd known this then I'd not purchased the transfer kit. Geez! Thanks!

did you try reformatting your Memory card, in the Dashboard??

Not sure why your having problems, but I have the Datel Xchange software and the Xport Software and the other one I forget what it is, all installed on my XP PC and they all work...

Are you loading the roster straight from your MC when you start NBA 2k9?? If so maybe you should just insert the card while still in the dashboard and just copy the file to your 360 HD.. Thats what I usually do...

I did go back to reformat the MC from the 360 dashboard. I done this after trying to get it to work several times from PC. I can open up Xplorer360 program & see the contents of the MC. I was also able to inject the outsiders v5 file onto the MC from the program as well.

However, when using both XChange360 & XPort360 the MC isn't recognized at all. XChange shows the MC(not greyed out) but when I click on the MC button I keep getting the 'Please remove & re-insert the MC error message'.

When injected the roster file to MC with Xplorer360 & then took it to the 360 the roster file automatically starting loading like your profile, settings, sliders, etc. would normally do. When it gets to the roster loading part is when the lockup/freezing happens.

I did try to copy the roster file to HDD to see if that was maybe the problem. However, after copying the file to HDD & try to load from there the same thing happens. I still get the lockup/freezing issues. Most stuff I've read aboutthe transfer kit pertains to XP & not Vista. I did find a post on another site that states when you install drivers for the XChange software on Vista it's hard to reverse the problem.

You have to go back & delete all the .inf(driver) files & go through a real irritating process to get things right again. Now, there was some people that responded to this guys post & claim they never got it working anyhow after the process. What this guy done was a long process & it's really too much to fool with IMO.

How could a software like this for a simple USB device cause such a big headache with Vista? I also tried to cancel out all driver installs & just use the transfer kit but that didnt work. There's reports of doing it this way works with Vista but not for me!

I also read that when injecting the roster file with Xplorer360 that you need a special security descriptor for the file to work when you take it back to the 360. I don't know because this stuff is relatively new to me. I just want to get my transfer kit working but I don't know what else to do. Maybe if I hadn't installed the drivers for XChange then things may be right. Thanks!

call microsoft and tell them you just got a used 120 gb HD, and you need them to send you the transfer kit... Then you can just use your HD and connect it to your PC and try that... Its free by the way...

Also try downloading the save over again...

Yeah! I had read about that cable you can get from Microsoft. I do have the HDD so all I'd need is the cable. I know this Datel transfer kit is causing major headaches with my Vista machine. I can't get the MC Unit recognized from within Vista even though Xplorer360 does let me see it. Thanks!

                          Re: Transfer Kit Issues!

I was finally able to get my MC recognized & then I had to run the Xplorer360 & XPort360 programs as administrator on Vista. However, ever time I inject the latest Outsiders roster file the game lockups/freezes.

It shows up on MC but as soon as I load the roster the game freezes & have to restart the game. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong when injecting the file onto the MC from Vista or what's causing this to happen.

I feel since the roster file is showing up from MC correctly named 'Outsiders v.......' then what I did was possibly right. I know that I said there was a problem with Blazer's posting of the rosters for transfer kit users but it could be me because I'm new to this. If it's a problem on my end I sure don't know what it could be. Thanks!

I previously had trouble getting NFL2K5 Xbox files over to my 360HDD using Xport 360 on my Vista PC;everything worked until the drag and drop step and it would not respond.
Then,I found the post here at OS about disabling UAC,and it worked like a charm.Disabling UAC is also the only way to use Tversity as a media server with 360.
Maybe turning off User Access Control (from the Security Center in Vista) will help with your transfer kit and other issues.
