Couple of noober ???'s for FIFA 09

So. Ive just bought this game this weekend, after a newfound interest in the CHampions League. And I have a few questions if you guys dont mind helping a white boy out.

1.) Is there any way to customize kits? Ive seen people who have created them in other boards, but I dont remember seeing that option in creation mode. Halp.

2.) I want to dive into manager mode, what non premiership squad is good to start with? Im interested in taking a Coca Cola club and building them up. Any suggestions of squads on the bubble that are good to take?

You want to start in England? I started with Salerno in Italy's Serie B and after 1 year, I finished 3rd and just got promoted to Serie A. But I don't know how much of a challenge you are up for and how good you are.

Yeah, I was thinking about playing in Italy (my heritage and all) but decided to play in England my first go-round. I was going to take Wolves and build them up. But decided on starting with Aston Villa and then taking a smaller club once I get better at the game.
