NCAA Football 2004 - Best Ever?
 

I have been reading page upon page of nothing but praise about NCAA '04, I am currently playing the 06 version on Xbox, however, I may have to invest in 04.
Can anyone shed some light and justify why I should buy a game 5 years out of date.

I never played 04 but I think it would only cost you about $5 so there isnt much to lose.

Never played '04 but I find it hard to play any older sports title. The rosters are very outdated and the gameplay is often flawed. Nostalgia is very forgiving. If the NCAA team released NCAA 2010 on the PS2 with the '04 engine and updated rosters, it would probably get trashed by the community.

I still have NCAA 04, but I am having a blast on 07 right now. I put 09 on the PS3 away. I think there are too many issues with the 09 version.

you would probably be just as happy with the '06 version than with the '04. I tried playing them again, but just couldn't get into it, both the '04 and '06 versions.

05' has been hailed by many as the red headed step child of the series, but a couple of folks have been bringing up 05.

Can you give more details what you enjoyed about 05?

2004 was great...If you haven't tried it, it's definitely worth the 2-3 bucks. Nice presentation, good college atmosphere. Run game was a little suspect.

I picked up a used NCAA2008 and enjoy that more even with its turnoveritis and lack of a pass rush. I don't like how franchise recruiting became so tedious.

2006 was pretty good too...I liked the create a player/school options. I think I played this game the most of all of the titles.

2005 looked great but played bad...bad penalties, passing was a nightmare, I tried different sliders but it was missing something.
