    Good Pair Of Headphones

    Hello Guys and Gals...

While out searching for a way to spend some left over Christmas Cash/Gift Cards in a useful way, I came across headphones.

I know back when I was younger by dad had a really nice set of headphones that were super good. Unfortunately I don't own them anymore.

Ok, I'll get to the point. I know how much a good set of headphones can change the sound of music. I mainly use earphones now while at the gym or in the house, but I really desire a nice pair.

So I came across these Bose Headphones at Best Buy. I haven't had a chance to test them out, and was wondering if anyone here has used them or has any high quality suggestions.

I would mainly be using them for Ipod, but also for Gaming/Receiver/PC use. Wireless is not necessary. I want something that will make my ears feel like they are in heaven, both with sound and comfort.

Anyone have any suggestions? Would like to stay at the price range of those two items.

    Re: Good Pair Of Headphones

Bose sucks...they are the Monster cables of the speaker/headphone industry.

I bought my wife a $100 pair of Sony noise cancelling ones for her birthday for use with her Zune and she loves them. They really block out the noise, provide good sound, and look similar to the ones you picked.

Granted, I'm not a personal audio afficianado so I'm sure they aren't the best.

I have the bottom pair and I love them. Totally comfortable and they sound great.

My dad has the same feelings towards Bose that Johnny does and he thinks you pay a premium for the name. Which may be true, honestly. But I had the money to spend for the very best, tried out a bunch, and those were the ones I liked the most.

I hate Bose home theater stuff, way too overpriced, but I think they make some of the best headphones on the market.

By reader request, iLounge today debuted the first of several new features planned for our Reviews section: “Sort by ratings and categories.” ...

Here is a resource I've found useful. They review a mix between over the ear headphones and in ear headphones, but it should provide you with a lot of information.

          Hope that helps.

I was thinking of getting some headphones too. I like the earbuds, but I want a better sound in my ears. I figured headphones (not earbuds) would do the job better. I'll have to look into some different products too.

This is usually how I tend to think also. From what I've heard in the past the headphones were really nice.

Well thanks everyone for the quick replies. Guess I'll have to go do some comparisons.

Not to sound like a "know it all snob" but I highly recommend the SR-125 by GRADO. By far, the greatest purchase I've made in my entire life - music just doesn't sound the same through any other headphone. Every year it wins all the industry awards and it's worth every penny.

GradoLabs.com is place to find all Grado Labs headphones, phono cartridges, and genuine accessories at unbeatable prices. Free domestic shipping on all headphones. Full USA warranty.

All of their products are amazing, but if you're into music with a lot of base with a lot of BPM, you can't go wrong with anything from GRADO Labs.

You owe it to your ears to check it out.

I have had this pair for over a year now, and they are a great set of headphones. I usually play games with headphones, b/c I usually play late at night, and I don't want to disturb my wife, and these have served me well. If I turn it up loud, I can't hear anything in the outside world.

I would buy these also, but $350 for me is a lot for a pair of headphones. Hmmm....would be nice though.

                            Re: Good Pair Of Headphones

In-ear are going to be the best musically. It will be debatable if you are going to be able to hear all the differences though. Any of the noise canceling headphones actually make the music sound worse as they have to provide their own sound to cancel out the background sound. The in-ear models are noise isolation, so they don't actually provide any "white noise", they seal off your ear canal and only allow the sound from the headphones to be heard. Plus they are smaller, don't have the cost, power, etc that it takes to create the "white noise", so you get a headphone designed and all cost put into the actually sound of your music.

I would look at Shure and Jays in-ear buds. I have both and they are great. The Shures sound slightly better while the Jays are extremely small(I can sleep with them in because they don't stick out of your ear) and also sound great.

This is the model of Shures I have and they are a steal at this price. You can also get the SCL4 for about $20 more. These are the Professional version of their main sellers.

Shop new & used pro audio gear—from JBL, Shure, QSC, Yamaha & more. Huge selection, low prices, 8% back in points & free shipping.

Jays are from a Swedish company so you will need to search for one of the US distributors. I have the q-Jays.

Wireless ANC headphones, WiFi- and Bluetooth speakers designed to deliver high quality sound, premium look and to ensure an effortless listening experience.

I've owned the On-ear headphones from Bose for about a year now and I am very pleased. You might want to buy the headphone extension and you're good to go!

The bass is bumping and you hear the highs and lows great. I would personally recommend it.
