Sound of bat hitting the ball in MLB 08
I was playing a game last night and this has always bothered me. Do you guys like the sound the bat makes when you make contact with the ball? I mean it's ok but they could make it more real to life sounds. Do you guys agree or dissagree?Tags: None -

It could have a louder pop..But for the most part it sounds great. Especially on no doubters where you get it right on the sweet spot(kinky) -

I'm ok with it....I know I'm one of a group of folks on OS who have made some global edits....power, contact and otherwise. But when I or the CPU hits em off the end of the bat, it sounds like it. When a power hitter gets ahold of one, I know from the sound right away it's gone (unless playing in a windy stadium and the winds keeps the ball in the park). When a player with NO power hits the ball square, it SOUNDS like a homer, but the ball dies before the warning track, when a player j-u-s-t tops the ball into the ground, it sounds like it....
so..I'm good with it

Re: Sound of bat hitting the ball in MLB 08
I played 2k8 and the bats sounds were ok, but 2k7 game I thought the bat sound was spot on. I may be wrong since I haven't played it in so long. Yeah I guess the bat sounds are ok in MLB 08 its probably just me..lol
Also, you guys mentioned that there are new bats implimented in MLB 09, what bats are different? I saw the videos but they looked the same to me as in 08.Comment

Some around here will no doubt disagree with you about 2K...
Anyway, I will say the foul ball sounds in the PS2 version of MLB 08 are bad. It's a "dick!" or "tick!" sound... barely sounds like the ball is deflecting off of something made of wood. That's always puzzled me because the foul ball sounds in MLB 06 were fine.Comment

Count me in that group. If anything 2K8 was better than 2K7...that was a BIG gripe with 2K7 at the time. You basically had one crrr-ack! type sound for every hit, right down to your lowly squibber...lol.Some around here will no doubt disagree with you about 2K...

More on point, I think the Show gets it mostly right. I think sometimes maybe the audio files get screwed up or something. I've had no-doubt HR's that sounded like tappers once or twice and a couple "splintering" sounds that didn't make much sense. Other than those rare occassions, I think they've got it pretty accurately represented.Comment

Rod Carew summed it up for me. Also a good speaker system is a must.I'm ok with it....I know I'm one of a group of folks on OS who have made some global edits....power, contact and otherwise.
