    STANDING DUNKS NEVER HAPPEN... Y?!

I POSTED THIS IN THE GENERAL FORUM BUT REALIZED IT SHOULD B POSTED HERE

i need as much feedback as possible please... outside of Dwight Howard and Amare Stoudemire (which i had both have above 80 dunk rating & 90 standing dunk rating on my roster/association) i dont see any standing dunks especially from players who should... they all do the lame lay-up under the basket.

i have all my sliders set to play perfectly other than that so im wondering if it has to anything with VERT, STRENGTH, DUNK RATINGS &/OR HEIGHT OR WHAT?!?

(example: Landry, Oden & Brand never dunk under the basket. & these are players that do it all the time & i have Oden at 99 standing dunk with an 80 dunk rating)

I created a thread asking this question about a month ago, and the most common answer I received in the thread was "to prevent cheesing"

I heard that sliders won't fix it because it's coded into the game.

Ugh, next gen Madden logic finding its way into 2k sports games. Bad bad news.

It's the standing dunk rating. You also have to remember there are three levels for this rating. They are 50,75, and 99. So giving a player a 90 is no different from giving him a 75. A 99 rating in standing dunk is where you will see the dunks. At 75 it will rarely happen and you will have to move the stick to the basket while holding turbo. At 50 it won't happen at all no matter what you do.

Good because 2K doesn't usually do a good job at having an even balance. LAst year and the years before it was so damn sad how easy the standing dunks were.
          Concrete evidence/videos please

              i agree with dc.
ive always played with created players and before the standing dunk attribute was allowed to be edited, all created players were set at 50 for standing dunk..which was so annoying.

but its good to see, they have really toned down the ability to just dunk at will inside.

although.. are you guys sure that the scale is only 50-75-99..
are you sure that anywhere between 75-99 makes no difference?

I'm positive. I had already figured it out from testing but then the insider said in his blog that those are the three levels for that rating and is the only three they give out.

the bottom line is that you will never see a player dunk the ball when underneath the basket (no matter what his dunk rating is) unless he has momentum moving toward the basket.

so if you are controlling shaq, and you are standing underneath the basket, and you hold down turbo, and the shot stick (or x button) without moving the left thumbstick, the result will be a layup every time. this is not the case for nba 2k8 though.

huh? players like dwight, amare, and nene have 95 standing dunks on my roster and i have seen them dunk just standing underneath the basket... also, oden and aldridge have 75 and they dunked a couple of times too...

that's because they are standing underneath the basket when they get the ball, then once you control them you move the left thumbstick towards the basket along with turbo and the shot stick or x button. that is why they dunk. they will NEVER dunk this year without momentum going towards the basket

no... why would i move the left thumbstick to move towards the basket if i am underneath it? makes no sense... for example like in my game yesterday, roy passes to outlaw while he is standing underneath the basket... i hold turbo then move the shot stick and he dunked with two hands (although its not a good looking dunk)... if i move the left stick, i might get called for out of bounds...

I find that hard to believe. prove it. post a video. this topic has been hashed, and re-hashed on here for months, with everyone complaining about the same thing.....then you come along and say it happens. no way. the bottom line once and for all is that your player is NOT dunking without any momentum going towards the basket. hello! it was taken out of the game to prevent cheesing.

moderator i request that this thread is locked, this discussion isn't going anywhere.

i have this problem as well.....it is especially hard to dunk after a drop step, even vs a weaker opponent....that is the one thing nba live does well; big dunks under the rim by players like dwight/griffin.
