Defensive Package Question
Okay I've been wondering this for a while
I know a 3-4 is 2 DE, a DT, two OLB, and 2 MLB. 4-3 is 2,2, 2, 1 MLB. Nickel is a 4-2 with an extra CB? Who gets dropped for the CB? And then whats 3-3-5, 4-4, 5-2, etc. what do they all use? Thanks a lot! |
Re: Defensive Package Question
as far as the nickel...one of the LB's get dropped (which is an OLB in the game) and a CB gets added.
The 3-3-5 is 2 DE,1 DT, 1 MLB, 2 OLB, 2 SS, 2 FS (some teams have specific names for them sometimes) and 2 CB. the 4-4 is 2 MLB, 2 OLB, 2 DE, 2 DT, 1 FS, and 2 CB. The 5-2 can be 5 downline men with 2 linebackers or sometimes they put a OLB on the line somtimes. |

Re: Defensive Package Question
There's two 3-3-5's in the game. One is a formation to itself, and that's the one they're talking about, with a ton of safteys. The other is a nickel package, and it has 2 DE, 1 DT, 2 OLB, 1 MLB, 1 FS, 1 SS, and 3 CB.
