NCAA Basketball or College Hoops 2k8?
I was thinking about picking up one of these games. I like to recruit my players and then watch my teams games play out. Which game would be better for this? I would like to hear peoples opinions before I buy one of them. Let me know the pros and cons of each. Thanks for your help!!!Tags: None -
Re: NCAA Basketball or College Hoops 2k8?
I'm not gonna lie, if you're interested in recruiting/watching your guys play it out, I would go with College Hoops 2k8. Its "Legacy" Mode is great for that, if you do a career you have to start from one of the 30 worst teams in the nation, or you can pick any team in an open legacy. 2k8's legacy mode is very deep, and very fun once you get many years into it.
but...
NCAA Basketball 09 has great gameplay once you get the right sliders (plays pretty well without them as well) it also has a dynasty mode, but it is geared toward playing the games (so is CH2k8, but there is a "coach game option).
In 2008, I prefered CH2k8, but now for the 08-09 season, I would choose NCAA BBall 09. -

NCAA basketball 09 for the win, even with lacking animations. Everything else in this game is great!Comment

Re: NCAA Basketball or College Hoops 2k8?
What types of things are in the 2k8 dynasty mode that aren't in the NCAA mode? Does the computer do a good job of recruiting in both games? Is it easy to get the top ranked recruiting class every year? It sounds like there is a problem with playing zone defense in the NCAA game. Is that also a problem in the 2k8 game? How is the commentary on each? Are the graphics much better on NCAA? Just trying to get a better idea of some things before I buy one.Comment

Re: NCAA Basketball or College Hoops 2k8?
I would recommend buying both if you're a big college basketball fan. If not, go with College Hoops 2K8.
NCAA 09's graphics, commentary, and user-controlled gameplay are better, but 2K8's are not bad either. 2K8 has a deeper Dynasty Mode with the ABL (summer league) and a few more recruiting and customization options.Comment

GO with 2K8 without a doubt. NCAA Baskeball is not a very good game the dyansty is far inferior. The gameplay is also. There are not post moves or anything like that in NCAA 09. 2K8 has so many recruiting option, while NCAA harkens back to PS2 college games a decade agoComment

Do you even have this game, because the Post-Game is one of the strengths of this game over College Hoops, recruiting in this game has more options, including going to a game of the HS player, sending them packages, selecting what view points you can offer individual players based on their strengths to your school and a lot more in recruiting.GO with 2K8 without a doubt. Maybe you should actually own this game, before constantly posting junk like this!Last edited by Behindshadows; 01-25-2009, 12:35 AM.Comment

The kid has only four posts, let him get his rocks off by bashing an up-and-coming game because 2k fanboys are starting to feel the heat from EA eventual dominance over 2k college hoops. Obviously, he's trolling around trying to pick a fight because he's an internet tough guy. Let him go Shadows, lolDo you even have this game, because the Post-Game is one of the strengths of this game over College Hoops, recruiting in this game has more options, including going to a game of the HS player, sending them packages, selecting what view points you can offer individual players based on their strengths to your school and a lot more in recruiting.

thats right go with 2k where everyone can recruit a 7'0 big man and dominate the paint. Or have point guards that take over the game.GO with 2K8 without a doubt. And there's no post moves in NCAA '09? Did you read the manual before you played the game or have you even played the game?I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: NCAA Basketball or College Hoops 2k8?
For what its worth I am sticking with 2K8 and the updated rosters. Its just the best basketball game I've ever played. EA has not restored my faith in any of their sports efforts in the next gen department. I thnk we all know what those are without me going into detail.Originally posted by ImTellinTimIf I lived in Waco, I would find you and kick you right in the nuts.Comment

No we don't know what those are! I'm a die-hard 2kfan, but honestly EA Sports stepped up and this game is great and insanely fun to play.
Not to mention, I think Live 09 approved enough to justify it's greatness, as DNA 365 beats anything that is on NBA 2k9.
So please elaborate your so called restored faith in any of their efforts. Because too me the efforts made by EA Sports team in the 09 series of all their titles definitely shows me they are moving forward and in a positive way.Comment

Re: NCAA Basketball or College Hoops 2k8?
If you are going to base your choice on either game solely on how the recruiting is (to answer the original question)... then I would go with NCAA Basketball 09.
In fact, I enjoyed many things about 2K8, but the SOLE reason I traded it in and got EA's game was because of the Recruiting.
I could not STAND the 2K8 recruiting, and I'm sorry to anyone who thinks it's good. This is just my opinion, but it drove me nuts that I had to go to each individual state and the on-screen font was ridiculously hard to read and... I don't know, it was just not comfortable for me. I didn't like it.
EA's recruiting machine is similar to the NCAA Football recruiting, so I am already familiar with it and I like it. You get messages from recruits about their favorite schools and you have recruiting goals that if you achieve them, will bring you team boosts from alumni and fans.
Fix up the sliders maybe and recruit who you can on-season and off-season, sim, and enjoy!Comment
