Pasta Padre has posted MLB 09 The Show Community Preview Report #1.

"After about five hours with the game today and more than that to come tomorrow there will be plenty to discuss about MLB 09 The Show. I wanted to get some initial thoughts up now and follow that up with one that will probably be more extensive tomorrow night.

First, there are some restrictions to what I am able to talk about. Those basically amount to the topics that are slated for coverage in the upcoming weekly Playstation Blog postings. I’ll be able to go over those areas a day after they are released. So if it seems like I am leaving out certain areas of the game or not answering certain questions that could be why. Or it might be that I just don’t have an answer or opinion on it based on what I’ve gotten through."

However it seemed to me that runs were being scored primarily off home runs. The hit variety I saw was actually quite encouraging. I just couldn’t seem to string hits together, and watching some of the games that were played on Legendary difficulty (which I won’t even bother attempting) they were getting singles and doubles but were scoring their runs off the long ball.

Just like last year. Terrific.

My take on it is he only scored on home runs. He had lots of hit variety but he couldn't string anything together because it of the tweaks, new game, etc.

Hopefully that is the case.

Hit variety is good. There is some long ball action but to me it seems tweakable. I would not say it was a red flag issue. The Cpu does a fantanstic job of stringing hits together.

hey nemesis and the others: are u allowed to talk about things like: sliders, pitcher-confidence, walks, hits (amount of hits) and fielding/errors?

nem im assuming u still can tell us anything about wether sliders are more influential this year...
cause they would solve this HR issue u guys are worried.

Nemesis and the others: Have you seen the "cracked Bat" animation? Have they at least added a few more? I remeber last year it was always the same bat replacement animation.

I have not seen any broken bats yet. I will be on the look out.

This is weird. It's been like this for a few days now, the site just times out each time I try to get to it.
