    Griffey back with the Mariners

Very Nice. I will definitely have to play a franchise with the Mariners for nostalgic reasons now.

You're going to start a franchise because they got Griffey? I mean 10 years ago maybe, but he's a bit past his prime.

I look for lower level teams to start franchises with for the challenge. Just think it would be a good story line for my franchise to have Griffey as a DH lead the Mariners back to the playoffs. Not saying that will remotely happen in real life.

I posted earlier about doing some retro rosters of 12 years ago earlier (via roster share). I was thinking it would be a blast to play with Jr. in his prime.

ichiro is the greatest mariner of all time. Step back Griffery.
Takashi Saito is a better closer than JJ Putz.

Hey no hard feelings and I have been a member since 2003 .
You do know of the Roid problem in seattle in the late 90s ?
So when you start a thread you gotta take the good and the bad and I dont think starting a Franchise with a guy who is basically done is the sharpest move IMO .
Wont post anymore here just had to get my 2 cents in
Ps I would also trade Ichrio for some young talent as the next few years the Mariners wont be doing much but PR.

I'm honestly just as compelled as he is. I may have to hold off on a Giants 'chise for this.

                        Same here.

                        1. Griffey is my favorite player
                        2. I'm going to use an AL team this year, I've always used NL so I want to switch it up.
                        3. I want to build a team up.

Seattle sounds like the perfect fit.

Wow. I can't believe how many people here either have no nostalgia in them, or know very little about the past. I am a Yankees fan and still have deep wounds from that 1995 ALDS series, but to see Griffey going back to Seattle is nice. I'm sure he will wrap up his career there and the man saved baseball in Seattle. Without Ken Griffey Jr., the Seattle Mariners wouldn't exist. He got them Safeco Field, he brought baseball back to the city, and he was a great player to boot. It's nice to see him return to his home park to end his career.

Good to see him back in a Seattle jersey, He will have started and finish his career as a Mariner. Best CF in my opinion bar none, however injuiries DEF set him back.

Yeah, this is very cool. I'll definitely be keeping an eye on the Mariners this year.

They also have Russell Branyan. I have always been curious as to what kind of numbers he would put up with a decent number of at bats. He had 12 HR's in 132 AB's for the Brewers last year. I think he has great potential if a team would actually let him play regularly.
