Re: How are the trades this year?
lol @ bumping a thread 17 minutes after creating it.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

I hope it's more difficult too, but I'm realistic. This is always something difficult for devs to pull off, it's a delicate balancing act."I am more valuable to my team hitting .330 than swinging for home runs." - Roberto Clemente

Re: How are the trades this year?
I tested it out and so far so good.
In last year's game I was able to rip off the Baltimore Orioles by trading Jermaine Dye for Brian Roberts. I tried it this time when I got the game and the Orioles turned me down.
I'll keep trying and let you know.I have more respect for a man who let's me know where he stands, even if he's wrong. Than the one who comes up like an angel and is nothing but a devil. - Malcolm XComment

Re: How are the trades this year?
I would say that it's a lot better. Last year, you could pretty much trade for any starting pitcher with Yuniesky Betancourt (an A potential, young player getting paid less than $1million). Now, I can't get much for him.
However, he has a B potential this year so I tried with Billy Butler who fits the mold. The only elite player I could get was Vlad Guerrero. I'm guessing it's because their highest rated 1B is Quinlan.Comment

Re: How are the trades this year?
just for kicks...im using oakland and i offered holliday to the yanks for sabathia, they said 'interesting, but no'. i also offered a 3 for 1 trade but it said the yankees didnt have enough space on their roster. i guess its still player for player. i also tried holliday for brian roberts and no deal, as well as holliday for markakis, no deal.
an interesting note: ive read before that all free agents stay free agents during the 1st year (ie. manny ramirez) but he just signed with the cardinals for 2/26 million. all the other big name free agents are still there though.
some cpu trades ive seen are: jj putz for carlos guillen, mike adams(rp) for ryan church, and some rp's for rp's - no big names though.Comment

Re: How are the trades this year?
Can you take control of those two teams and force the trade back?
I can't stand the idiotic CPU trades in franchise. My last franchise, the Cubs wound up with Jacoby Ellsbury and Scott Kazmir for nothing. The Rays would give away Carl Crawford for anything.
The game claims each team has a management style -- like playing to win, or rebuilding, or balanced -- but it never seemed to apply to what actually happened in-game.Comment

Re: How are the trades this year?
I don't think so although I never tried that. It's still a bad system. The transactions are now lumped together in the league roundup so you need to filter through all the injuries, send downs and waivers just to see if any trades were made in the past week. The cpu wants a ton back for players with one year left on their contract now which is a total 180 from last year. A prospects mean nothing, every team wants proven player for proven player. The only trade I could get off so far was an A ss prospect for duaner sanchez, and he had one year left on his contract when I made the trade in July. Can you take control of those two teams and force the trade back?
