Stealing bases is a joke
Now I understand that last season, stealing bases was far, far too easy. However, this year, it seems to be far too difficult. I have tried to steal 4 times already in my franchise (3 times with Denard Span, once with Alexi Casilla, both with exceptional speed), and been thrown out all 4 times. I'm timing my jumps well, yet I still continue to get picked off. And the worst part is there's no way to adjust JUST MY baserunner speed, is there? If I adjust it in the global settings, it applies to the CPU as well?

I don't have too much problem. Granted, I am using my RTTS CF with 67 speed and I am in AA. Most of the throws by the AA catchers are too high and the guy covering the base has to jump and I get in easily or it gets thrown intobthe outfield. I believe I am 32-3 through mid May. -
Re: Stealing bases is a joke
First off, as the thread indicates: it's not a joke. You've got to get a good lead and start your jump right when the pitcher starts his windup. I haven't had to much of a problem...It all depends on the baserunner's ability and aggression as to what kind of jump he getsOriginally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.
It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.Comment

Re: Stealing bases is a joke
Not here....
At first I did. But as you stated, in 08 is was far too easy. You simply need to be smart about it in 09.
*try an extend your lead a step or two
*go on a count when you really expect the pitcher to go off-speed
Hellafun trying to swipe bases now.Comment

Re: Stealing bases is a joke
I've been about average so far I think in trying to steal bases. I haven't played around with it to much yet but i've been about 5 for 9 or so. Seems pretty reasonable to me. All matters on what kind of lead and jump you get on the pitcher."When you go to other parks, they hang banners for the wild-card or Eastern Division or Western Division champions. Around here, they don't hang anything unless its for being world champions."Comment

Re: Stealing bases is a joke
the thing that gets me mad is that yesterday i leadoff extra innings with a single by j reyes. I wanna steal 2b and the bunt him to 3rd with castillo.
the pitcher threw over 11 times in a row! i tapped L1 one time!
In RTTS I'm 0/4
I always wind up forgetting to hold up the analog stickComment

Re: Stealing bases is a joke
You can't just steal whenever you want. Pick a good count to go, and just like in real life, if a fastball is thrown, its much harder to steal.Comment

Re: Stealing bases is a joke
I think stealing bases is fine in this game. I got thrown out with Adam Jones stealing(didn't have a good lead) But I had no problem stealing with Brian RobertsComment

Re: Stealing bases is a joke
There isn't. The game this year finally gets the user to think. I was having problems with the throw overs because it wouldn't have happened in 08. Then I learned to time my lead off, problem solved. Yet another thread indicating something is broken when it's the user.
This game is a relearn from 08.Comment

Re: Stealing bases is a joke
Which is why I can't say this enough please please play at least 30 games before you make up your mind on if you think something is broken or unbalanced.
It's all about your sample size.Comment

Re: Stealing bases is a joke
I don't think there is a problem with stealing bases. I stole my first base by accident by pressing L2.
Also the computer does a solid job as well. I think it is pretty solid all around.
As Russell said, play several games and have many attempts before coming to a conclusion.Comment
