Buy games are now going for $1 million a piece.

    Good Lord

JONESBORO — The Arkansas State Athletic Department announced Thursday it has renewed its football series with long-time rival Memphis for the 2012 and 2013 seasons, and has also secured an unprecedented $1-million dollar contract to play at Auburn in 2010.

Arkansas State's $1-million contract with Auburn is the largest in school history, topping the previous high of $900,000 with Iowa for the 2009 season. The Red Wolves and Tigers are slated to meet Sept. 4, 2010.

Arkansas State and Auburn have met just once before, a 27-0 victory by the Tigers at Jordan-Hare Stadium in 2006. While the crowd of 78,943 for the 2006 game is currently the ninth largest to ever watch ASU play, it was the sixth largest at the time of the game.

"When we've had to look at playing guarantee games, we have tried to maximize those opportunities," said ASU Director of Athletics Dr. Dean Lee. "The million-dollar mark is a small milestone to help us ensure that we are achieving full-market value for Arkansas State."

That's just the largest for ASU.

Jay Jacobs isn't exactly known for his negotiating skills either.

Why the hell is Auburn paying Arky State $1 million to play them?

Maybe the only other available teams played in states where they don't eat grits for breakfast.

            Just a theory...

Not changing sig until Florida gets their 2nd road win outside the South since 1965 (first was Rutgers in 1986) 9/28/10

              LOL.

I just don't see how they couldn't have found another team. Honestly playing a FCS team isn't much worse than playing a Sun Belt team at the end of the day.

I don't get it either. Ohio State pays Akron and Youngstown State the same: half of ticket sales.

Why Auburn had to go out of their way to do this is odd.

I agree that beating a Sun Belt team is the same as beating an FCS team in terms of how people will view the quality of the win. But I think alot of Sun Belt teams are extremely dangerous (ASU being one of them) especially for decending big six conference teams such as Auburn.

I don't know about this. The Tigers were in the toilet last year and still managed to blow out a mid-tier SBC team in Monroe.

Yeah, say what you want about Auburn's weak scheduling, but we don't we lose to these types of teams, and most of the time, they aren't even close. The only non-BCS conference teams Auburn has lost to in the last 30 years were quarterbacked by Brett Favre.
