MLB 09 vs MLB 2k9: Revisited

so if for some fantastic reason you're still on the fence (there might be some lurkers who still are i suppose), or you simply want to read some nice things about the latest acquisition in your PS3 lineup, have yourself a read:

Spring is here, which ushers in the arrival of Major League Baseball and the corresponding sports video games devoted to the national pasttime. Once again, two games -- MLB 09 The Show and Major League Baseball 2K9 -- square off...

    almost a clean sweep!

I'm sorry but they gave presentation to the show? WTF were they smoking? The 2k9 demo has more presentation than the entire show game...

      Here we go again....

This can only turn out poorly.
      It's only a video game.

Cut-a-ways mean squat when you have horrible faces, terrible animations, and glitch o' matics to ruin it.

And one stadium alone has more life in The Show than any one combined in 2K9.

Presentation as a whole goes to The Show, hands down.

i don't understand how anybody with a PS3 would even consider 2k9? The Show trumps it in every way possible except for online lag

People who sing the graces of 2K baseball tend to have a vested interest in their XBox 360 and/or have an axe to grind against Sony. It has nothing to do with the games. It's about the platforms.

There's no contest between the games. One is an inferior product repeatedly trashed by reviewers and players; the other year-after-year wins accolades from fans, developers and the press.

To me, I don't care which game is better, I have The Show and I like it. Everyone has their own preferences.

I know one thing though, I haven't seen too many people giving up their PS3 to get a 360 just to play MLB 2k9.

The only thing that I think mlb 2k9 does better is commentary and this is coming from a 360 only owner. But the show has better presentation because they have all the cut scenes and the little things that really add up. The crowd noise is amazing like the chants and boos to the opposing team. You guys are so lucky to be able to play this game. The developers are true baseball fans unlike the developers of 2k. I love going through the little things thread because what SCEA does with this game is truely amzing and I wish I had a PS3.

Can a mood please close this thread. It's going to get ugly very quickly. Use the basball other forum for this kinds of "our game is better than your game" topics.

I guess it's true, people do get worked up over the "our game is better than your game" topics. I think the concept of "our" and "your" is invalid though. I only own a copy of MLB 09: The Show and I wouldn't consider it "my" or "our" game. It's a consumer choice and that's the name of the game, and why there is any comparisons made, to try to give the consumer the viewpoint to better make a decision.

I've like the OS forums because most people tend to shy away from just bashing something. Instead it's better to offer detailed opinions on why someone dislikes or likes something. This is what could be considered valuable information to a consumer that needs to make a decision. It seems this was the original intent of the OP.

It seems a bit immature to get worked up over comparisons between two games. You don't see stock holders get worked up over who's stock did better, they can only acknowledge whether they made a good investment or bad investment, what went right and what went wrong.

Seriously , how many times can we have this discussion? These threads never turn out well, and this one will be no different.

Sorry, but I'm shutting it down.
