Re: Speed Burst
I don't know. I think there is a more important question to EA. Why when you hit the sprint button does the defensive AI react like like they do? In real life you are taught when you see the whole or cut back to go hit it hard. If you do this in the game the entire defense reacts to the speed button being hit. The defense will mysteriously come off of good blocks. The worst is when you get the ghost tackle. It is ridiculous. It is another cheat in the game to make up for bleeped up AI. -
Re: Speed Burst
This was meant to be a feature in madden 09 gameplay....
There was a video about the devs saying they wanted to make the game more about using the highlight stick and such that if you use the sprint buttion they get off their blocks and when you try and use a move while using the sprint buttion it wont be as effective.Comment

Re: Speed Burst
When I here the word "burst" I think of something temporary. I think instead of the "sprint button" there should be a "burst button" that give player a quick boost. How much and how often they get this boost during a play should be determind by there ratings.
Players arent out there just sprinting every second of every play. I dont think the sprint idea is an accurate interpretation of how speed effects the game.
There are pharses such as "Burst to the hole" ,"Seperation speed" and "Closing speed" that I think better illustrates how acceleration is used in football. You looking at the Chair MAN!

Re: Speed Burst
This is dumb. Coaches teach the players to hit the hole, not to dance. When you dance you give the defense time to fill gaps. I can see these moves in the open field, but the best backs hit holes and have vision. They don't have fancy moves until they get to the second level. Someone like Barry Sanders and Reggie Bush were exceptions to the rule. And Reggie has his problems running between the tackles in the NFL.This was meant to be a feature in madden 09 gameplay....

I have always hated the run game for NCAA because it is too unrealistic. The worst year is when a 300 lb DT would run down a running backing that had a 10 yards on him already.
I just wish EA would fix the game the "right way" instead of putting in AI cheats.Comment

Re: Speed Burst
The RB button covers the ball and gives you a short boost of speed. The problem is the boost isn't long enough to get through the hole without being phantom tackled. When I here the word "burst" I think of something temporary. The problem with NCAA running game is the o-line inability to hold blocks and seal holes. When you ever finally got a hole somebody would mysteriously come off of a block and make the tackle. This is dumb. Coaches teach the players to hit the hole, not to dance. Re: Speed Burst
No what I was saying is I would like for the sprint button to be redone and made into a burst button. I played football all my life and I dont remember sprinting the whole play every play. I think the sprint button doesnt properly reflect how speed and acceleration really plays out on the field. You looking at the Chair MAN!

Re: Speed Burst
Exactly, the phantom tackle. The OL has the DL beat and the DL still sheds the block and tackles the RB with their pinky finger.Comment

Re: Speed Burst
I hope that they have an option to just turn speed off. They did this in nhl and (i cant think of the other games right now sorry) it worked out great. Speed is determined how far you have the stick up. The game is too easy to burn the defense with espesially with your slot receiver. Having the option to turn it off will fix this and a lot of other problems to make a more realistic game. Seriously, ncaa 09 was all about speed i could recruit 2 star guys that were a A speed and they outperformed 4 and 5 star guys with speed like B+. It gets anoying because everyone in online dynsaty recruits speedy players and scrambling qbs. Say they make qb speeds different like a 90 speed qb is slower than a 90 speed receiver that would help a lot too.Last edited by Potatoes002; 03-17-2009, 07:31 PM.Comment

Re: Speed Burst
I hope that by next year both Madden and NCAA do away with turbo/sprint buttons. Let speed happen with acceleration and deceleration. NHL did this and it has worked out very nice for it. This also opens up that trigger to be used for something.
EDIT: Just saw that I pretty much re said what potatoes said lol.
