*spoilers* Who from 2008 do you use as a conerstone for rebuild?

What player do you always try to grab, no matter where you're drafting or even if you have to reach? Who do you try to pick up for sentiment or sheer bad-assity?

I try to grab Keith Rivers, the tackling machine.

Maybe Dre Moore as early as 2nd round to keep him under a decent contract, because he's so damned useful in every scheme.

I used to always grab Manningham, but it's too easy to pick up pass catchers who are worth a crap.

I'm off the Andre Woodson bandwagon, he's all steak and no sizzle. His #'s look good, but he just doesn't ever cut it for me on gameday.

    R. Schuening is always a good stopgap in 4th or 5th round.

    Who do you grab?

Like you, I try and trade up to grab Rivers, but if I can't I usually just draft Avril in the 3rd. I also take DT-Moore in either the 2nd or 3rd and Schuening in the 5th. CB-Zack Bowman is another one I always snag in the 4th, but that's mainly me just being a Husker Homer.

I also always grab SS-Horton and WR-Urrutia from the UDFA list after the draft is over.

My favorite players are Dre Moore, Rashard Mendenhall, Craig Steltz and if I have a crappy team, Chris Long. I've heard how good Josh Johnson is, but I've never gotten him/used him as a starter.

I have had Johnson and Woodson on my teams and ended up trading them in my 2nd season. Woodson takes forever to get rid of the ball and Johnson wants to run on every play, even when people are open. These are just my observations. Johnson I only used 1 preseason but I have had Woodson on more than 1 team and like was previously said, looked good in theory. I alway trade him to the Bears or the Jets. Keeps them sucking for a few years.

Calais Campbell is a monster, and great value in mid 2nd round.

I wish Mike Peterson (TE) and Xavier Oman weren't dumb as bricks on the game. They never learn the playbook and are constantly screwing up the plays for me.

I can't believe that nobody has listed Edgar Bennett as a great sleeper WR. His potentail is low 90s and he's listed as super smart... I play as the Bucs, and what I've done on several instances (I've had to restart a couple of times, due to corrupted data) any how, I would trade away Derrick Brooks for a #1, trade Galloway for a #2, I've even gotten a #1 once. Then traded Hillard and a 3rd for Rice from the Vikings. I've also traded Ernest Graham for a 2nd or straight up for LenDale White. I'd then get rid of Garcia for a #1.

From there I draft Rivers, Ryan and Jenkins, I've managed to steal Edgar Bennett in the 3rd and Desean in the 4th.

                  You guys are killing me.

Still haven't started my franchise yet but the previous posters had me convinced Andre Woodson was the upgrade Chicago needed at QB. I got him on my notebook paper draft board and everything.

And now, some people are coming out and downgrading the guy.

Man, I ain't ever going to start if I keep stressing out over pre scouting reports by the esteemed members of this fine board.

So what's the skinny on this pick?

Never used him, but honestly it wouldn't hurt to pick him up. You can get him in the 3rd or the 4th so he is a steal eitherway. Worst comes to worst you have a great trade bait. I've seen him go undrafted a few times as well.

I have been able to pick up Moore in the 3rd round pretty easily. I had Buckingham for 2 years and was never able to get his overall above 73 so I traded him away. Every time I get Moore though my GM wants to win roy with him and I have never done it. His pot and overall are very high, but his production on the field is erratic. Even though I cant win the roy with him I keep him. He is a beast in plugging up the middle and is normally pretty easy to negotiate a contract with. I also found a qb through ufa out of lehigh named powell. Low overall to start but a pot of 80. He learns very quickly and is a cheap alternative for a 3rd stinger. At the end of the first year his overall was a 75. I was going to move him to 2nd string but he wanted 5.7m for 3 years and a 5m bonus. I didnt sign him and got him back through fa for 2.7m for 3 years. He has been a great backup.

With the Eagles, thats exactly what I got too except for Woodson. Campbell is an absolute beast in HC and a steal at the end of the 2nd. Phillips is also a player but you've usually gotta get him in the first. If you've got a team without good DEs draft Tony Bake too and you've got yourself two Pro Bowl DEs for the next decade. I had Trent Cole starting but Bake outshines him after his second year.
DT Frank Okam is also a player but has serious problems staying healthy.
WRs are a dime a dozen in this game but Desean Jackson in the 3rd round is also a steal.

Josh Johnson is fun to develop. give him a couple years to improve learning the playbook and then you have yourself a great quarterback.

He is as good as you are going to find in the first year. That said, after the first draft class franchise quarterbacks are easier to be had. If woodson is available in the 4th I usually take him and then trade him once I can get a real QB.

I won't however jump at him in the third as there are other players to be had there and if he goes there I will take someone else later as a stop gap or just sign a vet to hold me over for the season.

Came down to choosing between Woodson and Johnson. Chose Woodson and Johnson got drafted elsewhere...only to be released and i picked him up as well as the drafted by another team and then released Alex Brink. The 3 of the best field generals in that draft
