I wonder if EA is still doing any Mo-Cap.

I would like to see some stuff like this in Madden. I will note the times to watch for (starting at the beginning of the play).

*2:18-2:23 [what ever happened to the helmet jarring hits from the old past-gen Madden?]

*2:40-2:48 [... Wow.]

*3:11-3:17 [That's a nice diving catch.]

*3:58-4:06 [It's damn near impossible to get a catch in the corner of the endzone in Madden now. Hopefully they've worked on some jump ball situations and toe-drags.]

*4:28-4:37 [I almost never see catches off of deflected passes in Madden.]

*4:49-5:02 [WHAT?! GTFO.]

*5:22-5:30 [WHAT?! GTFO MORE.]

*7:31-7:39 [Where are these bobbled catches that I thought were supposed to be in Madden 09?]

**[All of the big hits. In this year's Madden, I think momentum needs to play a factor.]

The point of this was to point out that EA has implemented some of this stuff, but it's very rare. And usually, you only see the same animation over and over. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to see this stuff ALL the time. But it would be nice to have some more memorable moments.

There needs to be more variety in the catches. Diving catches are just as rare as the one handed catches in Madden. By no means should diving catches happen just as much as a one handed catch. There's still no real "Jump Ball" situations in Madden. That needs to be addressed greatly, as a lot of NFL teams try to use that fade into the corner of the endzone to their playmaker. ex. Randy Moss, Plaxico Burress, Larry Fitzgerald, Calvin Johnson, etc.

Discuss.

I've seen the bobbled catches in madden (allbeit only in the mini games) and what pisses me off is I usually get hit before I come down with em too, at least they are rare like they are supposed to be.

I think the bobbled catches are maybe a little TOO rare. As in, I think I've only seen it like one time while I was playing. Maybe that's because everything has been kind of robotic with Madden though.

They definitely need more catch animations, i was in a practice mode and i did about 30 plays and i got 2 catch animations.

In APF i got about 10 and they were smooth, right in stride with no alligator arm crap.

You must be playing another game. I've played a couple hundred games of Madden 09, and I've seen maybe 1.

I hope there's A LOT of new catch animations this year. It gets boring seeing the same things over and over again. It's like a broken record.

Bumping to see if Ian will let us know if they're done with Mo-Cap.
